X570 ACE issues booting nightmares

Had this motherboard for about a month now and I've been having constant issues with booting up

I keep constantly getting code:

00 which if I press reset will either boot or present a different code, or stop the power or reset button work so have to flick the switch which makes me cringe every time...

22 usually goes away if I do a long press on the power button and leave a while then turn back on

40 press reset sometimes it goes back to 40 or 22 or 00

Basically it's like Russian roulette if it boots up first time.

I've tried updated the Bios through the various releases.

For context to save the guess work to start with:

New 3700x
New MSI X570 ACE
New MSI 5700XT Gaming X
Existing Corsair Vengeance 3000 32gb
New Corsair RMi850
Latest Windows 10 on Sandisk ultra SSD

I don't want to have to RMA it so I'm hoping you guys could shed some light, first post on here so go easy

22 is not in the manual, are you sure that's not the CPU temperature? 00 means the system has POSTed successfully so it must be getting stuck in the boot phase not POST and 40 just means the system is waking from S4 sleep so it doesn't really help us.

Have you run a disk check on your SSD to check for errors and is it reporting good health in something like Crystal Disk Info or HwInfo? Next time it happens could you remove all peripherals and external drives one by one and see whether then it boots?

Also, there are boot, dram and CPU lights on the board. Do any of those turn on when you have the problem?

I am not ******** you, I had to RMA 2 of these boards. My last board would throw the error code 40 many times before a boot but I would also get 07 04/00 too.

Just RMA it and save yourself the hassle. I am now getting a Gigabyte board because **** MSI.

I can't believe it, I am in the same situation as you. My MSI X570 ACE board would not allow me to change memory voltage and then started randomly trying to kill my CPU by pumping far to much voltage through it for no reason, causing it to overheat. This happened out of the blue one day. My Gigabyte Master is coming tomorrow.

this was my first and last MSI, I got it because of the better chipset heatsink design, cheaper price and free AIO cooler. I noticed under the light that my MSI board had staining on the PCB, someone posted on reddit with the same issue, maybe that's source of the problems and it wasn't just cosmetic after all:

I usually go with Gigabyte and have had good luck with them so hopefully they won't let me down now. Good luck with your new board and I hope our problems are over.

Judging from similar threads on Gigabyte boards, I'm not certain it is the panacea.
Actually I'm beginning to think all Zen2 is basically broken on all x570/x470/b450 boards.

I'm hoping for the best, at least my Gigabyte board is not stained and looks immaculate unlike the MSI board.

How did day 1 go for you? So far mine has worked - even on the first boot! Updated the bios and shut it down for the evening, came back in the morning and it still worked! I hope this trend continues.

I wasn't able to install it yesterday, I am in the process of doing so today so will let you know after I've tested for a few days to make everything is working properly, thanks for asking. I'm glad yours is working well, that's great news!

I assume it's around gen 4.

Set your PCIE to Gen 3 for your 5700XT.

As a 3900X and X570 owner with a 5700XT the platform has been the buggiest I've ever had, I mean last BIOS broke sound card support almost across the whole X570 landscape lol.

Even now I'm having issues running my RAM at DOCP with my graphics card at Gen 4, turn it to Gen 3 and it's working

Perhaps some of this will be removed when I get rid of a sound card in favour of a DAC and have Gen 4 NVME Drives.
