Hey all, Merry Christmas (soon)! I was looking for some advice on a new system. Unfortunately my current one is coming to it's end, so it's upgrade time.

First of all, use cases and budget:

I play a fair few things, but what I consistantly play is WoW on a 1440p 165 hz ASUS gsync monitor.

I'll play BF:V, CSGO, Other MMO's etc, but WoW and MMO's are my main go-to's.

My budget is MAX 1800, but I'm more than happy to go lower with different brands etc.

What i was looking at is below. I like the idea of an RGB system, but then if it's including price increases jsut for lighting, i'm not sure i'm too fussed. I've had good experience with corsair products, but happy to use anything else u fine peeps may suggest. I threw a 2080 in there, but maybe a 2070 would be better? I do know tho that I would want to roll with an AMD CPU, they're poppin'!

Thanks for reading and whatever advice/suggestions you give.

Nice build, check the difference in performance from a 2070 Super to a 2080 (non-s) to see if is worth £150+ more, in the genes you play.

Cooler is over priced, can't you get the 360mm for the same price nearly?

The 3800X isn't worth the extra money over the 3700X. Even with the extra free game that you can claim it probably still works out more expensive overall.

I would go with the Seasonic Prime Ultra Snow Silent Platinum 650W for £92.99.

You can get 4 years warranty on the Gigabyte Gaming OC model, although it's an extra £50.

I don't do MMOs any more but I've heard that they're more CPU-bound than GPU-bound and benefit from multiple cores. You should check that with the MMOs you play. Maybe you should go for the 3900?

I would get an air cooler as they're quieter.

I'll look into the cooling situation, thank you

Ahh, solid recommendation about the PSU, thank you!

You're completely correct - MMO's and certainly WoW are very CPU heavy, so a 2070 would probably be the better way to go. Though im not seeing conflictiong stuff with a 3700x recommendation and a 3900. Worth looking into.

So, i've taken some of your advice and suggestions on board.

- Added an air cooler (though not sure if its overkill? Looks HOOOOOG)
- Added the suggested seasonic power supply
- Changed motherboard as I've seen a lot of people suggest it in other threads

Any futher suggestions would be great

Maybe one of these would be a better cooler option?

Dark rock pro 4 is too tall for that case. The other two (if the specs are right) will just about fit.

The B450 Pro Carbon is back in stock. Also, I saw grey/silver accents in your spec and thought to help out a bit, and with the RGB (the RGB stuff looks best deeper inside the case - rear, CPU cooler, one at the top optional, not at the front unless you go for a glass window fronted case).

For memory, look for

Case brings and fits 3x140mm fans at front. Then RGB fans for the cooler, rear, and one for the top.

Bit pricey though, depends how nice you want to make it look.
