Any suggestions? every time I go to one of those "top 10" type sites I check the one they say is best and reviews on Amazon etc are very mediocre at best. I used to use Rain-X antifog stuff ages ago but that seems to have gone downhill too judging from the reviews.

TIA

Does your car not have air conditioning? Just asking! :)

Oh, the smilies have changed! Now it really does feel like Christmas! :D

Advantage of these products is that you don't need to sit and wait for the windows to clear, you can just get in and drive, unless it's freezing ofc

It is this time of year I miss the SVR, remote start, heated front and rear screens, heated seats. Italians don't do Winter. :D

Clean screen as it is dirt on the screen that causes it. Make sure you keep it clean and you shouldn't fog up unless the interior is damp.

I understand that, but I've rarely encountered any major issues on that front – provided the car is dry inside, the A/C works, the glass has been properly cleaned previously, etc.

Even when I've dug my Forester out from under a load of snow and it's been parked for a while, the glass has been clear of any moisture inside – and remained clear. :)

my car is parked in sunlight all day. cold glass and the greenhouse effect make the inside fog up like a mofo.

if it's somewhere secure leaving a window a jar avoids it, or, a big dog ? (maintenance probably less than £10K)

the glass has been properly cleaned previously
as said - leave it naturel - just a pig to clean effectively - auto-glym glass, say, .. the glue I had to buy to re-attach the mirror.

side windows too ? they're usually the tough ones to defrost .. front+back tepid bowl of water, plus wipers to stop refreeze.

Side windows were never an issue, but like I say remote start with heaters on maximum so when I approached car ten minutes later it was totally defrosted and nice and warm inside.

I still find Rain-X good - but you do need to make sure the window is clean first (same for the external stuff) - sometimes I've had to go over 2-3x to make sure it is properly clean before the final application then it works fine.

EDIT: Also if you apply it when it is quite dirty you will likely end up with severe streaking/smearing.
