Hi All

could I ask for advice on a new build, my current system is as follows.

I3 6100
16gb memory
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

I needing a system that will handle some video editing and gaming when the opportunity arrives. I don't need a monitor or keyboard/mouse. :)

Welcome Stairstod,

I put this together for you as a basic build to start with, its missing a case and operating system if you need one.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £760.60 (includes shipping: £11.70)

Little bit over budget but I'd say it's worth it.

1. Ryzen is a great platform, and the 3600 is a fantastic CPU for gaming and work related tasks.
2. PSU is a little overkill, but it's on a deep sale at the moment and comes with a 12 year warranty. I wouldn't touch a Kolink PSU with a twenty foot pole held by someone else.
3. Gigabyte NvME, UK based customer service and there's even a rep for the company active on these forums.
4. 5700XT is a fantastic card, it trades blows with the 2070 Super, which while a little bit faster overall is also a lot more expensive.
5. The Zalman case listed is great value, it comes with 4LED fans and has a mesh front, so great airflow.
6. You could consider spending an extra £10-12 on the 3600mhz Patriot Viper set.

If you need a Windows 10 key you can pick them up for a couple of quid elsewhere.

I decideted to go for the 3600mhz Patriot Viper set and change the motherboard because the one you recomeded was out of stock.

Yes, the Tomahawk is better.

3600 RAM and a better RX 5700 XT Gigabyte model (the Mech OC isn't a good card with some components reaching the same temperatures as the blower models).

EDIT: @Danny75 good shout on the GPU... UK RMA service so pretty quick if you have issues

Yeah, I know the Mech OC is cheap and tempting but it's cheap for a reason. According to Gamers Nexus, MSI themselves have acknowledged issues with their Mech OCs and Evokes and are offering speedy RMAs on them if the buyer isn't happy. Personally, I'd just avoid as they can't really fix them much. Just bad design.

Gamers Nexus also had word from MSI that newer batches of the cards resolved the issues.

Although whether that's the case with the stock OCUK have is another question I suppose.

The R5 3600X is currently better value over the 3600 as you can claim a free game (Borderlands 3 or The Outer Worlds). Only £13.99 difference. Similar offer applies to the RX 5700/XT gpu. See link below.

Some cheaper ram as well. You can easily overclock it with ryzen dram calc.

Hi all i just wanted to say i got the above. And so far its been fantastic. my next question would be, What would be the best cooling system for my cpu? Its not over clocked. But it does reach some high temperatures when playing games/ editing.

Air or Water? Any mid range air heatsink will do, cannot go wrong Noctua. U12 is good.
