You can get RX5700 for £250 or RX5700XT for £300. Coming from 580, the 5700XT is more meaningful upgrade and would serve you well for years to come at 1080p.

Budget £300 - 5700 with a proper cooler or 5700XT blower if you’re not sensitive to noise.

No budget - I’d still go 5700XT but with a proper cooler (about £360) or a 2070 Super.

I think you might experience a bit of a bottleneck if going for an upper-tier video card.

I've recently gone from the same CPU as you and although my experience of it, when coupled with a 980Ti, was solid,
I have found some extra performance when moving up to a newer platform.

I'm not saying don't get a faster card, but bear in mind that you might not see it's full potential until further down the line.

so , what your saying is , stick with the 580 ?
i had a GTX 970 before my 580, been googling (without the CPU in mind, purely GPU) and i found Radeon 7 is only slightly faster than the 5700 XT

best bang for buck is the 5700 XT

Agreed, the 5700XT is the best bang for the buck in the semi high-end range, so I don't think it would be a bad move. I probably wouldn't go for anything faster than that, though. Unless, of course, a newer platform is on the cards in the not too distant future.
That's what I'd probably do in your situation anyway.

As for the Radeon VII, it's a niche product. However, it seems to me that ultimately it comes with a number of negatives and not enough positives to be worth considering anyway.
Overall, IIRC, it's a little faster than the 5700XT at higher resolutions but costs a lot more, is generally considered rather noisy, and reference models being the only option for air cooling.
Its main strength is the mountain of VRAM it has (and compute performance?) though I doubt most people will get the benefit of that anyway, especially at 1080p.

Etc

What sort of RAM? Asking because it would your back even on the 6600K if it is not 3200 or faster.
