Been without a car due to a big bill on old Honda crv (dpf) and needing to go through with a house purchase.

But afterwards going to need a new one.

Need an automatic, needs to be able to transport kayaks on roof.

I wanted to make the move to electric but this doesn't seem possible. This is a bit disappointing. Limited models and still very expensive.

So looking for a used petrol automatic that can accommodate roof racks. Ideally not as high as crv! But boot space would be good for camping trips etc.

I don't have a price range but would be looking at under 10k.

Any ideas? I know this is fairly broad!
 
What's putting you off electric? I have had a roof box and surfboard on my Zoe before, it did hit the range, but I was still able to get ~130 miles on a cold wet and windy night with mixed, dual carriageway/motorway and twisty country roads. A 41kw may be over your budget slightly, but taking into account the fuel savings may make the difference?

Obviously if you don't have a drive to charge on or are regularly doing 100+ mile trips with no destination charging then it's a bit of a non starter :p

Seems to me that if you have just spent a load of money fixing an older car, the thing to do now is keep it for a while rather than replace it.

Assuming it is now fixed, why not keep the CRV?
