WhatsApp. How to change chat bubble colour?

My Sister finally talked me into installing this, but there's a problem - and it's a big one. I can't read some messages due to my colourblindness and, as far as I can see, there's no option to change the colour of the chat bubbles anywhere.

Anyone know if there's a setting tucked away somewhere that I'm missing?

Don't think you can, all I can see is you can change the wallpaper on the chat screen.
I'd love to be able to customise all of it.

Well that's a bit ****. Might get onto them on social media and accuse them of discriminating against people with colourblindness.

Apparently you can. Go to Google and type in WhatsApp. How to change chat bubble colour? and the answer pops up.

You think that wasn't the first thing I tried? All the answers are concerning changing the wallpaper/background colour and specifically say you can't change the colour of the chat bubbles without installing a third party app.

No I don't think many people check Google first. If they did they would probably get the answer first.

I have a feeling OP is on iPhone not Android. Never seen an option to do this on there.
