I'm still holding out for an upgrade of my cpu and mobo. Had current setup for 7 years almost.

There was a good deal on the 3900x for £430 but I didn't go for it.

I want a bit of quality in my mobo, and hopefully a chip that will last 6/7 years, with maybe a mid mobo life upgrade to the chip.

I just don't know what to go for.

I don't want a cheap ass mobo, so have been looking at the master.

I basically game on my machine.

Think nice mobo and 3800x. With a view that in 3/4 years I could put a 3950x or 4950x into the nice mobo I invested in.

Procrastination, my downfall.

X570 fan noise is a small thing blown out of proportion by people who have never used the board probably.
Yes I concede it's an extra potential failure point as it's an extra moving part, but it's not noticeable sound-wise over and above your normal fans running at normal speeds.
Or course if you have an ultra-silent system then the fan will be heard...

(Declaration of interest: owner of aorus x570 it's board)

Wait until Intel and AMD have released their 2020 products since l see you current CPU is overclocked quite high. Either grab a 12-core 4000 series Ryzen or Intel's upcoming Deca-core depending on benchmark results.

Thanks all. I think that will be the time for me now.

My CPU is a champ and been running well in the asus mobo. I think it is actually down to 4.75 now as its getting hotter as it gets older.

For the games I play and the res (1440p) I think to be honest I'm just going to get rid of those lows at the bottom end. I don't seem to play CPU intensive games really.
