Well I have got back into PC gaming and am spending a fair amount of time again on it, and enjoying it!

I bought mid spec components mainly when I built my system a few months ago, as I wanted to make sure I got the bug again without spending too much. I am am now looking at what would give me the best upgrade path. Appreciate any help of advice.

At the moment I have the following:

Corsair Carbide 275R White Case
750W Corsair RM750X ATX PSU
MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC MB
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU
2x8G Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 2933
8G ZOTAC GTX1070 Mini
1TB Samsung SSD
Asus MG278Q 27"

Ahh, ok thanks.

I play BF1 a fair bit, although sadly a lot of cheaters on there it seems. Still get plenty of good games though. I seem to get around 60 FPS when running at 1440p - what sort of gains could I get with which card - any ideas?

Generally the games run well, but well I am sure they could run better :)

Red Dead 2 runs well, but think it could look better with a better GPU.

No real budget issues, but I only like to spend if I am going to get a decent upgrade.

I would look at either a 5700XT or 2070 Super as a minimum coming from what you have, both work well at 1440P and should offer a nice performance bump.

Great - thanks

The AMD seems a fair bit cheaper for better performance on that game? Will do some more research as I don't fully understand (or even partially understand!) the GSync/ Freesync thing.....

Easy to explain. Stops the screen tearing as the monitor can't keep up with the frame rate.

Amd use freesync on some monitors
Nvidia use gsync on some monitors
Most gsync support freesync
Most freesync are gsync compatible

Great thanks, my concern was the compatibility, as I currently use GSync.

Have checked on my monitor, seems to support both so that takes that concern away.

OK , having done some more research - Nvidia seems to be the most stable.

Would I be better getting an 2080 Super, as is not that much more?

Not ready for a 2080ti yet, will wait on Flight Sim for that :)
 
If I was to get a 2070/2080 Super, would my CPU start to struggle? At the moment it never gets above 60 degrees or so when gaming and doesn't seem to be struggling when I check in CPU usage: just not sure how much this will change with better GPU.

Thanks, I have already upgraded the the newer BIOS.

Is doesn't look as nice mind you, all the nice colours and quick buttons have gone sadly. So game boost etc. you now have to go into the settings, no longer one click as such.
 
just do the GPU and if you want then you could sell your Ryzen 2600 and put in the ryzen 3600 (after flashing the mobo bios for the latest) or wait for the 4th gen ryzen to out and go for the 4600.
