hey guys trying to workout my upgrade path and i think i have settled on the tomahawk b450 max mainboard and a ryzen 2700x.

i have 16 gig of ddr 4 3200 kingston hyper x fury black in my rig at the moment and im wondering if i could reuse that on the tomahawk if i can find one lol

hey guys got my rig upgraded with old mem but cant get it stable past 2666 speeds, gonna order more mem later and ill give this mem to dad.

so what memory should i go for, for my 3600? looking for a 16gig kit at 3200 speeds, also preferably memory that just works on the xmp profile with no faffing about :)

Before ordering more RAM you should be able to get this to 3200mhz. How are you configuring it?

the only thing i done was try xmp profiles and had to do manual voltage to get it to boot, really not much idea of what im doing with memory in the bios, plus dad could do with this memory as he only has 8 gig :)

edit: forgot to add that i couldnt get 3200 speed on my old i5 board either and the timings were slacker than what the ocuk store page says to run at.

hows this mem sound? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...-channel-kit-black-grey-tdged4-my-09p-tg.html

edit: gonna order soon and edging to this mem, will that run in my board with no faffing about when i select xmp profiles?

thanks for any help :)
Without a doubt the best ram I've used on any Ryzen system (all 3 gens + Threadripper Gen 1) is the Team Group 8Pack ram (Samsung B-Die), costs a bit more but much less hassle.

Others on here have had great success from the Crucial Ballistix Micron E-Die with Ryzen as well.

OCUK sell both.

I'm not sure you'll see any extra benefit from that ram in your link than you've already got?

cool thx, i see a set of 8pack ram on special for 100 quid more or less, a bit more than i want to spend but might, my ram refused to go to 3200 in both motherboards but at least my old g1.sniper z170 board had it running at second highest setting and promised my dad this ram as i can just whack it in and he then has faster mem and double :)

he has my old components, i just want 3200 ram that will go to 3200 on the tomahawk max board with no messing about or minimal messing about :)

i appreciate any and all input :)

All the 8 Pack RAM I've ever had has jumped straight to the promised speed, and apparently the 3200 kits are from the same bin as the 3600 kits, many have had a free upgrade so to speak with an easy overclock :)

Not used that ram but I'm fairly confident it'll probably be just like your old stuff? (See new post below for edit)

Here's the other ram I recommend, not much more in cost but a lot better:
