Rumour AMD is to preview RDNA2 with RT today at CES!!

Computex is June, and that would mean any kind of availability beyond 100 pieces will be in fall. And that's either Ampere launch or not long to it, at which point you're buying a product still 2 years behind. So unless they seriously undercut them, and I'm not talking about this 10% non-sense that happened with Navi then...

Meh.

The invisible RDNA2 GPU they showed was mighty impressive. Thought it would take AMD at least a couple more years to perfect cloaking devices.

Sadly the demo rig was also invisible, as were the slides. And Lisa's mic cut out completely during that part of the presentation. Which was only 5 seconds long in any case.

ake this with a truckload of salt:

So, fake then?

Yeah fake or something got cut last minute, just like it was "said" happened for CES 2019.
I did not comment but when I saw this thread I thought it was a fake as wording did not look right. Was worried I would get jumped on so did not post :p

It is always best not to get excited or hyped about AMD graphics products otherwise you will inevitably end up disappointed. Been a long time since AMD released something exciting for me. Everything after the 290X has fallen short of expectations either in performance or rice or both.

Until they start delivering regularly like they used to, I will not buy into all the hype and fake news out there. What the latest fake news going around being posted by 4K8K? Navi 21 double the die size and double the performance of 5700XT? Lol.

Guys be realistic. AMD launch a new CPU for laptops, a monstrosity for HEDT CPU and a new GPU for low-mid.

No person in right mind could also release a better new tech at the same time. Straight away you make all your potential customers of all those 3 products to be on the "wait" circle.

Quelle surpise, I was right. I can't believe anyone thought for a second that this was genuine. Just look at the text, this was written by some 11 year old fanboy.

Why would AMD ever mention competitor GPUs? Why would they state a release time on a flyer and not in the presentation? Why would they state no performance figures on flyer? Why would they mention a single technology like Variable rate shadifng ona flyer? Why would they mention code names of an unreleased product on flyer, worse still with spelling mistakes?

Tbh I can see merit considering that Nvidia highjacked Freesync monitors demanding them to be branded as Gsync compatible.

Unfortunately that's the way Nvidia is, They don't care about anything other than earnings for which they constantly push prices higher & higher often unjustifiably, The Pascal release is a good example where they knew AMD had nothing to compete with the 1070 & 1080 so they stuck a £30 founders tax on each card because the blower shroud looked flashier. Time & time again they treat their userbase like doo-doo, I blame the monitor branding on the monitor companies which agree to do so for whatever reason, the same goes for the companies that agree to do things like convert branding to Nvidia, example? ASUS & ROG. They keep getting away with this type of behaviour so why would they stop? Look back at the 970's memory fiasco where they had those unhappy with the 970 returning it & instead buying a 980, AMD isn't above doing it's own anti consumer acts but out of the two Nvidia is the worst by far.

We don't always see eye to eye, but I completely agree with you on this occasion. It was quite obvious that it was a fake, but people are so desperate for some good news that visit sites like wccftech and lap this kind of crap up. They even fight to defend it. Lol.

People hope for a high performing card from AMD including myself because the market needs competition. With Radeon unfortunatelly it is one dissappointment after the other, feels like a different company is running it.

Vega gpus got released with beafy memory with horrible high price tags and nowhere to be found- thank you cryptocurrency ...- VII got announced again with a price tag that was too high in my opinion and then nvidia countered with their products, some price changes and the new super products and thats it VII is EOL. At least you can get a vega 56 for stupid money now, banging my head on the wall for paying full price for 2 56's...

I don't see why it would be a bad thing for them to have announced a new gpu in CES yesterday, each product is for a different market. 5600xt is 1080p, 5X00xt would be for higher end. Laptops are laptops, threadripper could benefit or not from a high end gpu release. Only reason why AMD wouldn't possibly release all these in one go is because they have issues with 7nm capacity and cannot produce all the products in one go, then definitelly AMD would pick the ones that bring the most, see the chiplets for the cpus i guess. Of course the other obvious reason is if AMD doesn't have a product for that market to announce or release :P then Jensen has dollar signs in his eyes.

At least they didn't announce zen 4000, that would put people in the hold position and wouldn't buy into 3000 series cpus.

Or why bother losing money producing a GPU that nobody is going to buy in favour of the sweet, delicious money mountain that is EPYC? AMD & TSMC don't have capacity problems, AMD are obviously prioritising their wafer allocation to something that will actually make then some cash. However much we'd love to see a 2080 Ti killer (which technically is very possible right now with RDNA 1), no bugger would buy it because "AMD suck" etc.

Hes probably getting mixed up with Gsync which is DP only with HDMI coming soon or has it already arrived.

I do not believe can, given that it would confuse people. Gsync Premium, or what ever are called the monitors with the Gsync module, only work on DP.
Physically impossible to make them work over HDMI as the scaler won't work.

Freesync monitors, highjacked by Nvidia, are able to do HDMI & DP Adaptive sync. However even if Nvidia could implement it on their cards (drivers), can you imagine the backlash having the expensive "gsync" module monitors not been able to do this, but those for Freesync initially can?
It won't keep consistency to the eco-system and going to be a lot of ridicule.

And here we are on the same thing I have been vilified in this forum by Grim5, Gregster and several other Nvidia fanatics.
When wrote numerous times since 2016, that from Pascal onwards the cards could do Adaptive Sync on Freesync monitors only requiring driver (software) support, they were absolutely adamant that is impossible because blah blah blah.

Now this is happening, they just mumbling through their ignorance....

That is 100% true and in my mind its a mentality that is out there for years because AMD did suck the past however many years and only since 2017 it is back on the cpu field and stomping intel. On the gpu end they are still behind. Why would someone on team green leave them and go for team red. Well i personally can think of a few reasons - too expensive, lack of support on older gen gpus, and I can keep saying things. Haven't had a radeon since 9000 series back in early 2000, but jumped on 2x vega.

I am not really happy that i paid full price for them i should have gone with a 1080ti and not 2 vegas sigh thank you AMD for not supporting crossfire.. Learnt my lesson though never again 2 gpus. On it's own the vega 56 does wonders though for 1440p, and some 4k gaming with some settings off. I would buy a 2080ti killer if i could. Lesson I have learnt though, don't buy amd on day one! You can buy it 6 months later for a lot cheaper..

Well my upgrade path for a GPU also involves a CPU so if AMD want me to buy a Ryzen 3 or 4 they had better get a 4K GPU out the door sooner rather than later. Simply not interested in anything below 2080Ti perf levels nor pay stoopid pricing.

CES was a complete let down :(
