Which brand new car would you choose for up to 25k

1983 Corolla mk5
1991 Corolla mk7
1995 Corolla mk8
2006 Corolla mk10
2012 Corolla mk11

:D

That's kind of what I was thinking. His comment could mean anything! If he's rocking a 458 or M3 or something in his spare time then it's meaningful, if he's had nowt but crap then you know...

I wouldn't. Unless you get something like that Volvo deal above, it's a colossal waste of money to drive a second-rate car
I'd buy something considerably better but not brand new.

Got an exclusive list of cars you've owned?
Yep. Pretty dire for Some people, but a car to me is a metal box on 4 wheels powered by a fossil fueled engine & all I want it to do is travel from A to B with the minimum of fuss. I don't care how it looks or how fast it goes, I want reliability & low running costs out of a car.

So here's the list of POJ's! :D :p
86-89, Chrysler Sunbeam
90-92 Vauxhall Nova
92-06 Rover 400
06-13 Corolla
13-Now Ford Fusion (Old mans car I Know, but then I'm not exactly a spring Chicken anymore)

Plenty of options.
Quick search carwow and you can get A Class mid spec, C Class, Toyota Corolla (no diesel issues, and very good mpg, my brother owns one), etc.
Before my actual car I was looking for more powerrrr, but that would allow me to drive faster than I should, sorry can't help.
Decided for something comfortable. Not always/every place you can drive fast, but always you can drive in comfort.

If I was being sensible, and with a bit of discounting, I think a Corolla Touring Sports with the 184ps hybrid engine and decent spec would be pissible.

New? I'd be trying to get an MG ZS EV.
Good shout. They look good, with some korean and european styling influence, and although ICE engines from china have been rubbish, you'd think they could make motors and batteries. For some reason it's wheels/tyres look comically small to me though.

I couldn’t physically do it! I wish I was rich enough to set fire to the depreciation on a 25k car!

Would that volvo depreciate much after that level of discounting?

Most cars depreciate 50% or more within the first 3 years unless they are rare or well sought after.

So yeah he would be better off buying a 3 year old car that was £50K new. However some people like brand new cars. It's all about the regy plate.

An S60 will probably lose over 60% (of its full price) at trade in after 3 years.

Buying new has nothing to do with the reg plate for me. Instead spending £25k on an older car would mean far more £ and inconvenience in running and repairs. No movement on price and probaly worse deals to buy.

For what my new Touran costs a month, I could have got a 3 year old one for the same price per month, paid over 60 months. The 3 year old one would probably be a previous model and abused by previous owners kids and dogs as well.

There No letters on REG plates over here..;)
