Sat nav not working on used car due to missing sd card - what would you do?

If the car was advertised as with satnav, dealer has to provide one.
Problem with the SEAT (or other VAG) systems, as the majority of the manufacturers, is the need of a physical card, and a knock-off usually won't cut the mustard here.
Clearly some smart ass at the dealer nicked the card from the vehicle before delivery. No reason to remove the card, for any reason apart from the update.

Once you have a card that works, maps are free updates 6 monthly that you can download and install yourself.

Assuming Seat haven't done anything weird, you should be able to get them from the VW site which typically has updates earlier than the sister brands.

AFAIK SEAT don't offer free map updates in the UK, unless they've changed that recently.

VW and Skoda have been doing it for years, AFAIK SEAT have too.

Nope that must be a new thing for their updated infotainment systems, the one in my 2014 Leon FR doesn't get updates in the UK, even though they were offered elsewhere in Europe.

EDIT: Says at the bottom of the page:

"MapCare is not available for UK vehicles. Please note that the only way to update the Sat Nav is through the purchase of an SD card from an authorized dealership."

Talk about being tight, even Skoda have offered free updates for the entire MQB platform, all the way back to the 2014 cars, amazed that SEAT seem to have specifically and deliberately removed this ability from their cars. I thought Skoda was meant to be the penny pinching budget brand :p

Yup, it's baffling. Last I checked some people on the Cupra Forums were getting close to finding a way to install the updates onto the existing SD card but it's been well over a year since I checked their progress and it didn't seem like a simple process to do it either. Annoyingly it doesn't even look like SEAT offer new SD cards for the older systems like mine, at least not ones that are up-to-date.

When we picked up a 2nd hand Nissan X-Trail a couple of years ago, they removed SD cards routinely and had a stash of them in a drawer to stop people stealing them. When we picked up the car they went in the drawer to get one, I just asked if they had the latest maps and they sifted through until they found one!..
