2070S OC vs 1080TI OC vs 2080

They all perform roughly the same. Some models of cards overclock better than others though.

If it's a choice of which one to get, then get the 2070 Super unless you are getting the 1080TI super cheap.
 
My 2070S overclocked to the max scores just over 11k in Time Spy as an example, which is identical to an overclocked 1080 Ti. A 2080 when really pushed scores just over 12k, so a little faster, but nothing notable.
 
If all are around the same price obviously the 2080 as it's the faster of the 3 cards. I would say 2070s second and the 1080ti last due to being the older architecture.

you forgot to mention 1080ti has no warranty or next to no warranty now.

nobody should be buying one unless very cheap.

as in if i offered you a 2070 super for £400 new which is what you can get them for from ocuk (after you sell cod). how much would you pay for a 2070 super with no warranty? £300? then the 1080ti is worth £250 at best since it's old and will have had a hard life compared to a new card.

It was third on my list any how but i see your point. If all are second hand though they might all have no warranty if it can't be transferred over.

no real reason to buy a 2070 super second hand. it's only £400 new and you will get 2-5 years warranty. which is worth paying the tiny amount ore from what they sell for second hand.
 
Even if you pay £180 for a 1080Ti, it could break after a few months. Then when you buy the 2070S like you should have done in the first place, it's actually costing you over £600 once you account for the huge loss.

Is it really worth it?

The problem I have with the 2070S and 2080 is that the 5700XT is going to give you most of the performance for a lot less money.

Same here. My 1080 is running like a dog in RDR2, the 5700XT is very strong though in that title and you can get a decent one for £350 depending on offers at the time. It beats 2070S in RDR2 but it isn't quite up there in other titles so it's just not compelling enough.

Big Navi can't come soon enough!
 
Never ran RDR2 on my 1080 but have a feeling it would be really chugging. The 2080S is running it at very high settings all round and drivers and rockstar updates seem to be improving things.

RDR2 has highlighted core instability, at least on this game, had to take manual OC on GPU core down from +70mhz to +40mhz!
 
Don't buy a card just for one title, RDR2 being the example mentioned. The 5700XT is probably the best value for money overall and will fall behind in some games but by how much and if it matters is up to you to decide. I would wait for a 2070S or 2080 deal, I imagine the 2080 deal might come first as nVidia has really skewed the lines of different cards. If you can get a 1080Ti very cheap (£200-300) then its probably worth it as long as you can verify its been 'treated well'. But I would probably go with a good deal on a 2070S or 2080, and I say this as a 1080Ti owner.

Woah - hope you're day job is an accountant !! Thanks though so true, Will sugget my mate a 5700xt or 2070S
