Hi all

In current propertyerty we have BT Fibre which we are happy with.

Next week we are due to move to a property with only BT copper service at 1-3mb. I've checked with Virgin to see if they can supply the new property and it's come back as not serviceable.

Question - what are the options? Current usage is approx 350gb per month across multiple devices.

Would mobile broadband be an option with an unlimited data SIM? Think it's a 4g+ area. Been offered the BT 4g router but just wondering if there is any other options.

Thanks in advance

Could see if wisp is available
My step son uses that
Wasn't extortionate though forget price
And he gets his sky through it too I think
Only needs a small external poe antenna

Thanks for the quick reply.

Never heard of WISP will look into it.
Sorry should have said
Think it stands for wireless Internet service provider
Think he gets around 20Mbs+
Not fibre speed I know
But in rural area much faster than copper unless got an exchange near you

Appreciate that, thank you.

Might try the 4g route first as can get roughly 20mb outside the house via mobile

can happen unfortunately
i watched virgin lay fibre every street around me
only to stop 100 yards away from me for some reason

Same here, when my new build was up, virgin was in before, and now the old fibre lines were ripped out

So with BT, great service but annoying when all the houses up street and accross the road can access Virgin Fibre!

1-3Mbps on ADSL is pretty unlucky but it's possible that your cabinet just doesn't have any spare ports for fibre connections at the moment. What does the address checker on this website say? https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/ (Pick Address Checker, enter only the postcode and then select your property from the list.)

Says up to 3mb unfortunately!!

Think it's a 4g router for the short term, BT provide one but happy to invest in a better one (anyone have ideas as to which? ) BT SIM (unlimited data) is £20 so could get the halo deal so I'd get 1-3mb copper broadband, An unlimited data SIM and 2 X family Sims for £58.

Anyone any ideas how to get the best 4g connection? Outside of house on mobile I get 20mb, literally down the road at the Tesco it's 60mb.

Never used 4g router
Does it support external antennas?
Would be kind of sensible if it did
