TVs in the corner

My TV is in the corner of the lounge as it's realistically the only.place to put it. I have a 48" which is fine for the size of the room ... I could probably go to 55" if I wanted to but that would involve moving some bits of furniture around.

I wish I had more dead space behind the TV ... With an uplighter in the very corner and modem, router, switch and various other things behind it it's a cabling nightmare if anything needs to be changed.

Havent had a tv in the corner in a long time, but we are spoilt with a large living room.

Thats a 65" tv.

Prime TV watching from the sofa facing it, viewing from second sofa is fine. Its on a (strong!) pivot arm mount so can be pulled out and angled to give even different viewing angles if needed.

TV in corners ruins the sound, also most modern houses dont have proper fireplaces anyway so no problem removing those for me.

TV above fireplace is almost always too high though, so in a choice between above fireplace or corner, I would reluctantly choose the corner as its better than neck ache.

if you have the luxury of an oled, viewing angles should be fine, better than my IPS @30degrees in one corner,
not sure what you could ever do with the wasted space though;
external 2.0 speakers , obviously assymetric, too, so the balance is adjusted so the sound comes from(ish) the tv,
but furnishings and room shape never make any acoustics brilliant.

I am going to have a similar dilemma when(if) we exchange on our new home.

Where to put 55" tv in the living room?

for me I would reduce the height of the "fireplace" hole by about 6 inches, mount the tv just above and then have PlayStation / skybox / amp on some shelves in the remaining "fireplace"

That is a very useful tip. One thing thinking about the TV but totally forgot about the PC, PS4 and Sky box under there too

We've got a 40" TV and couldn't go any bigger really as it'd be in the way of the window, i don't think the room size would warrant a bigger telly anyway. I also use the stereo for sound otherwise they can sound a bit weird in the corner using their own internal speakers.

You are sat that far away it would look good showing SD.

The camera makes it look futher than it is, thats no more than ~4 metres or so.
It feels big, but we do joke that a 75-100" tv would be 'better'.

We have ours in the corner as there just isn't anywhere else for it to go with how the room is laid out

We've got a 40" TV and couldn't go any bigger really as it'd be in the way of the window, i don't think the room size would warrant a bigger telly anyway. I also use the stereo for sound otherwise they can sound a bit weird in the corner using their own internal speakers.

I'd get rid of the fireplace and mount TV there, perfect spot for a large TV.

Good to see I hit the sweet spot in the 1080p 55" category. Exactly 2.4m from sofa to TV. Not sure where this scale will be in the new house.

Seems legit to me. From about 9' I can barely tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on Netflix on my 49" TV.

Would much prefer to see 1080p screens with a far better HDR output than this push for 4K. Much in the same way I’d prefer to see RTX and 120fps than 4k

It is. That's why the lines on the graph slope upwards.

It's just that Ultra HD is a bit of a gimmick in that most people don't have a screen size/seating position setup such that they can actually see the benefit.

I hate living rooms without a fireplace, plus there's another sofa behind the camera which points towards the TV so you wouldn't be able to see it if mounted on the wall there.
