Will a first gen AMD 1600 work on a x570 MOBO?

I'm thinking of getting a first gen ryzen 1600 and getting a x570 mobo with 3600RAM. Then later when I save up a bit more cash, replace the 1600 with a 8 core 3*** series...or even a 4*** series cpu.

I know the memory controller on a 1600 might not let me run 3600 speed RAM but I can change the settings on it to run at even 3000 in the mean time.

Anyone done this before? Bought a up to date mobo and ram and dropped in a stop gap older cpu?

Having done some digging, it appears that this mobo (the one I was looking at) won't support ryzen 1*** series....back to the drawing board I go.

Looks like a no :(

Officially X570 doesn't support 1000 series Ryzen. Some mobos may be supporting under the radar, see this THG article.

With UBUTool you can run a UEFI through it and check microcode to be aware if the UEFI does.

What about the 1600AF? Does X570 support that? If so, they're pretty cheap and it's a great upgrade for now.

Why are you after the X570 specifically? You can clock 3200Mhz to 3600Mhz on an MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon board. Unless you're after PCIe 4 right now, why would you pay so much for that mobo when one for £115 would be more than suitable?

I've seen 1600 AF models working fine on X570 boards too, they're technically not 1st gen so makes sense. There's a few threads with 1800X too if you google it, but in one of them it didn't work properly (couldn't change memory speed).

While Asus and Gigabyte are best avoided in B450, in X570 it's MSI who's scamming buyers with substandard boards for the price.
All X570 MSIs below Unify have copypasta (or as bad) VRM from £100 B450 boards.

dam

I checked Anandtech etc and didn't read any thermal issues...might have to send that back again
