I ordered a Hero gaming char from noblechairs, it costs 535 pounds (with discount applied) and the deliver fee is free right? Anyone can explain how they charged me 660 euros?

535 pounds = 620 euros..

anyways i'd love to know.. cheers guys

Maybe the exchange rate at the time of purchase was different?

There has been no significant changes in rates to make the 535 suddenly be worth 640 euro.

It's false advertising to advertise one price and charge another right? lol

no way was I supposed to be charged 640, it should have been 625 euro at max. Google 535 pounds to euro..

Quite simply - exchange rates and bank / credit card fees.

Assuming a 3% fee on non native currency transactions and the exchange rate at Mastercard's rate for 28th Feb, a transaction of 535GBP will charge you 647EUR.

okay that I never have been charged more for, and I bought a few things with the GPB price tag..

I was charged 659.83 euros, you think they'll refund that or that was also lost for fee's? lol. hefty fees

When I buy something in a foreign currency my credit card always shows the converted cost and the cost in the original currency.

You should have an invoice from OcUK showing what they've charged you. If your bank/card provider has added fees on top of that it isn't OcUK's fault.

It's always worth taking a screenshot of the checkout/Order confirmation when making online purchases.

maybe the discount never got applied or the price changed on the confirmation etc.

I assume your conversion was done with the mid-market rate? This rate doesn't actually exist anywhere practically. Your card provider will likely have given you a worse exchange rate on top of fees to convert the payment amount.

Know the way you guys are all talking about conversion rates why am I never hit buy them when buying stuff on Amazon.co.uk? Also I did take screen shots just in case.

Free delivery is only free to Mainland UK excluding remote areas (there's a 3 next to the free delivery).... you likely got charged delivery charges.

Where does it say they're charging me for delivery fees lol and it clearly says delivery is free or maybe that's just for me...

Anyways I opened a topic on their support channel and well they said that it's due to currency fluctuations? Pretty crazy fluctuations unsure what exchange rate platform they're using lol.. anyways just thought I'd keep you all informed and thanks for responses trying to help.

Their response;

Hello,

I can confirm that we have charged you the correct price of £535.00 GBP for this item - currency fluctuations and what you have been charged in Euros is out of our control sorry. If you're unhappy with the price you've been charged in Euros and dont wish to proceed we'll have to cancel the order. I've placed the order on hold and will await an update from yourself.

Are you buying from outside of the UK?

Any charges in addition to the invoice and the exchange rate are all down to your card provider.

You can get cards with no exchange rate fees which would be better for you if you make foreign payments regularly.

On the product page... it says 'free delivery' followed by a superscript 3, meaning it has caveats, which then if you scroll all the way to the bottom shows the bit I said earlier about being free being mainland UK only.

Seeing as you're paying in Euro's my assumption is you're not living in a UK mainland location. The invoice will as said tell you more.

Ocuk have charged you correctly, your issue is one that needs to be taken up with the card issuer if you're not happy with the exchange rate or fees.
