I'm trying to get clarification if the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite has support for ECC memory.

The situation is on OCUK's product description, and Gigabytes own on-line manual ECC support is specified, however when checking memory support list ECC is not mentioned.

I would like to use ECC memory as the computer will be used solely for processing highly threaded neural networks.

Unfortunately I have actually already purchased the board, however not purchased memory yet.

This is the board on OCUK where it mentions ECC.

However on Gigabytes description ECC is not mentioned.

But then the manual says ECC is supported (jump to page 7)
https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_x570-aorus-elite-wifi_e.pdf

And finally here is memory support list where no ECC memory is listed.

As you can see the information above conflicts. I would be very grateful if someone can clarify if ECC memory is supported? Better still is there a Gigabyte rep that could answer.

Many thanks
Jason

Yes there's a gigabyte rep on these forums
@GIGA-Man I think it might be
Far as I thought my aorus ultra can
Take ecc
The qvl list isn't something I look at
Since only lists whatever
They decide to test

I just looked at your motherboard and it's the same situation as myself where the manual says it supports ECC, yet it's not in the memory support list.

It could be as you have said Gigabyte have simply not decided to qualify ECC on that board.

In the tech specs they do say it supports ECC. Last I saw, Gigabyte support ECC with Ryzen ONLY on their highest end motherboards. Ryzen 3000 all support ECC (except APUs) and it has been confirmed working. You do need unbuffered memory though, not registered.

QVL lists are next to useless . takes vendors and memory vendors a LONG time to get ram on the list as you have to test 1 to 4 sticks on mulitple CPUs and boards repetitively .

Hopefully @GIGA-Man or other Gigabyte rep @Atom80 (Laptop rep - but might be able to summon a gigabyte rep quicker) can lend a hand to double confirm

Hello all,

It's taken me a while to get an answer on this one and get them to update the QVL list. It was done on monday just gone and now has a small number of ECC added.

Just to say thanks to everyone who posted above, especially thanks to GIGA-Man.

I'm really impressed that Gigabyte has added some ECC to the QVL list, I was never expecting this so truly impressed this was done.

Until the response from GIGA-Man had still not ordered memory, however have now ordered 4 x Crucial 16GB 2666 un-buffered ECC (CT16G4WFD8266), I normally choose Kingston however Crucial this time as it's now on the QVL.
