Just got shunted up the rear!

Recommendations for front/rear dash cams.
Do they have to be so in the way? You see them in the middle of windscreens, with a little led screen lit up. Do they have to have the screen on?

If you place the front camera behind the rear view mirror you won't see it at all. And the rear camera is usually tiny.

Cool, cheers for the info.

is it just the Top Gun pilots who mount them in the middle of their screen? Next to their massive phone?
Some cars
The frit/black dotted area
Is quite wide including around the
Mirror
The cam won't stick properly to that
So have to stick it somewhere its
More intrusive
And its worth checking if your insurer
Gives a dashcam discount
Some give up to £100
As long as its a make they approve

I see this mentioned a lot, but since my car was written off in an incident >2 years ago (non-fault) I haven't paid a penny more for my insurance (it's actually come down over time). Quoting with/without the incident doesn't change the premium at all (Direct Line). Did I get lucky?

Direct Line Group don't load policies for non-fault claims.

Yes it doesn't look that bad
Doesn't mean the op won't have a
Sore back and or neck
By tomorrow
Which kind of proves my earlier point
About dashcam measuring
The g force of an impact:):)
Rather than judging by the state
Of the car

not to do a “where there’s a blame...” my lower back has been super stiff since it happened

When an accident occurs, the insurance companies put aside a set average amount for a potential personal claim. If no claim is made then this just gets recycled into the profits, so make the claim!!!

Doesn't look to bad, but quite hard to tell with modern cars. Is the boot floor under the carpet showing any creases? Hopefully its just the bumper stopping the boot closing properly

My nextbase has the option. Personally when im driving at night i don't want a massive bright screen next to my face as it means your eyes loose the contrast of seeing in the dark. I would have though all dashcams would have an option to not have the screen on. It pops on for a second or 2 when first turned on then carries on recording with the screen off.

That's not bad.
Looks that way,but its not always that.

A bus rear ended my old man at slow speed (was bus drivers fault he was right up his backside) and wasn't paying attention,Anyway it only dented the boot of his rover 600,it looked an easy and cheap fix..nope it had bent and cracked the frame underneath completely writing off the car.
Not saying this will be the same outcome obviously but just saying.

I lifted the floor in the boot and it won’t go back down, looks like the whole back bit is pushed in.

It’s with MerTrux for some warranty work and they’re going to estimate the repair

....once I figure out how to get home!

Often see that with modern bumpers they will deform but pop back out. They are designed to, but once that happens most should be replaced.
Just a full colour matched bumper will likely be 600-1000 model dependant, when taking into account often rear sensors etc will be fubarred, plus labour

Hope you're OK OP. It should be an open and shut case. The driver in front was not to blame; they could not safely join the carriageway so they stopped. You stopped too behind them. Then the guy behind was not watching or didn't leave sufficient gap. It should be expected that the cars in front may have to stop at this point. So it will certainly go on their insurance. But there is the risk, as mentioned before, that your premium could increase slightly even though some here say it hasn't affected them.

I almost had the opposite happen last week. A driver joining the carriageway didn't look at all and just joined at 60mph despite me being on the carriageway at 70 with no gap for me to pull right. I had to brake hard as they joined to stop driving into them. Muppet.
