Anyone recognise this veneer

Had this lying around at work so made a coat rail with it. It's in polish at the moment so will get more pics up when done

Dont think so. Closest I can see is walnut burl but dont think it's that either

It looks very strange. Doesn't look like real wood to me, looks painted on? maybe its just the photo, do you have any more pictures?

That ain't wenge. Wrong colour and grain isn't straight enough.

But also doesn't look real, looks printed.

Looks like several bits of a rosewood or possibly American black walnut layered up.

I.e. a few pieces glued together on a slope.can we have a pic of the end grain?

Its veneer so not a lot to see. Been working on smoked eucalyptus veneered doors today with a brass inlay if anyone would like to see pics? Also bedside cabinets with a curved brass inlay

Could be anything but is definitely multiple strips overlayed. Immediate thought is something like a walnut burr.
