hello friends so im gonna be building my new pc in time for cyberpunk release if the new gpus come out by then!

I was gonna go for a 3900x just for gaming but i have come to the understanding that this is totally overkill for just gaming! so 3700x it is, can you please confirm that that is the right decision here haha! can put the extra toward better gpu

Gpu will either be the 2080 ti or the big navi or 3000 series, depending on when they are released and prices!!

Going for 16gb of ram unless there is any reason i should go higher! any specific mhz i should go for?

there are so many motherboards im going crazy haha!! I want to go full RGB with this build, im not 100% what ports i need to be honest... so far i have only used usbs and dp etc dont think i need thunderbolt?

Im looking at spending about 2k on the whole build, i also want the MB to be futureproof for a few years!

so with cpu being about 250 and gpu about 1,100ish i got about 580 for mb and ssd, pcu etc

will only be using it for 1080p ATM gonna buy monitor after build and go 4k i think, need to do some research on 1440p 144hz compared to 4k 60hz

im completely out of touch with ssds and this m.2 business so i will do my research on that!!!

i know its a lot of questions but any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

many thanks

Sam

For just 8 cores, which will be base level for games by Christmas with next-gen consoles coming with pretty much underclocked for energy efficiency version of it, MSI B450 Tomahawk would be enough.
For upgrading CPU to higher up Zen3 something like Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite would be better.

2080 Ti is again choise for those having cattle and feeding them banknotes instead of hay.
It's performance per price is super bad and it's onli like 35-40% faster than sub £400 Radeon RX 5700 XT.
Also for all the hype, raytracing performance is from "takes notable hit to craptastic" with like 30 to even 50% performance penalty.

While 16GB is enough now for nearly every game, next-gen consoles will no doubt start increase in memory usage of games.
So unless you like closing background stuff like web browsers I would say 2x16GB is better for heavier games.
At least that would be actually future proof for its price and hold its value unlike 2080 Ti and no doubt next Nvidias.
With people willingly giving their bank account to Nvidia and bending over for some butt syncing, pretty sure also next cards will be horribly priced.

For gaming better forget 60Hz monitors.
That's not even old school because CRTs did better.

In SSDs Samsung is brand overopriced.
In 1TB size WD SN550 is now the most sense making for gaming PC.

unless you dont mind spending the extra £ i think the 2080 ti at this point and it around £1200 is madness, paying that for a graphics card

cheers guys! will have a look into it! when do you thinnk nvidia will release there new card????
