Looking to choose between Nest, Ring and Netamo. I already have one Netamo camera.

Nest:
  • does not have much smart security devices like the Ring
  • 24/7 video recording
Ring:
  • has more security devices like the motion sensor, contact sensor and alarm system
Netamo:
  • no subscription needed, can upload to Dropbox or FTP server
  • has smart door and window sensors, and alarm system
Or going left field, I could just have 3rd party IP cameras connected to a Synology Surveillance Station.

To be honest, neither Nest or Ring. Buy something standalone that isn’t harvesting information about you to make more profit from you.

e.g. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-51709247

Local NVR and IP cameras are both more cost effective and don’t log all your activity and send it huge tech companies. That said if your happy Amazon or google knowing more about you and are happy to pay more then go ahead any buy either, they both make it very easy.

Can you recommend a local door & motion sensor that's not cloud based?
