Hi all.

I bought this:GEFORCE RTX 2080 TI GAMING X TRIO 11264MB GDDR6 PCI-EXPRESS GRAPHICS CARD

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-34e-ms.html

Then bought this water block: GLACIER RTX 2080 TI GPU FULL WATER BLOCK WITH RGB LIGHTING - CHROME

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phan...block-with-rgb-lighting-chrome-wc-02c-pt.html

At first glance it doesn't look like they match, the MSI 2080 Ti is at least 40mm longer than my 1080Ti and the water blocks look the same size.

Please advise, have I ordered the wrong part?

Thanks

The RTX is massive and barely fits in my case. Is the extra size really worth the extra performance?

I was thinking I could get a founders edition and add a water block to that.

Thanks

Is there actually any extra performance? Especially once underwater.

Thanks

Nope. Just get the cheapest one that will work with your chosen waterblock. I would've said be on the lookout for it to have an A chip as well but I'm not sure it's really gonna make a difference & not worth paying extra for regardless. Though if it's a founder's edition it always has an A chip so nothing to worry about there.

Hi.

What’s an A chip?

I can’t find any founders editions for sale now. All RTX versions. Anyone find one? It would be a big help.

So your sure there won’t be any difference in the RTX vs Founders when in water?

I don't think that Phanteks is going to fit on that card. In fact I don't even think I would try, because then you void the warranty like I did on my 2070 and still don't have a block that fits.

It looks nothing like a 2080Ti PCB.

You have two options now. Cancel or return the block and get the EK that does fit (they do make a few custom blocks for single cards) or return the GPU and get a FE. I bought a 2080/Ti FE block for my 2070, then found out my 2070 wasn't stock. So it wouldn't fit, then I had to pay £125 for an EK.

Hi,

As other forum members stated, 2080 Ti Gaming X TRIO uses special PCB layout and only special waterblocks designed for this card is going to fit but removing your cooler will void your warranty.

The most hassle free open loop watercooling for RTX cards is MSI Sea Hawk EK X lineup. These cards are fitted with full cover waterblocks from factory :)

I have an email from MSI stating you can remove cooler and it won’t void your warranty.

To be honest I don’t see why they should change there stance, other companies allow this and not allowing cooler removal will only hurt MSI GPUs sales hence why EVGA have have lot of customers choose them.
