I'm finally planning out a new build to replace my aging (3770k) rig.

I was going to go ahead and order the parts though I figured that with the forum here I might be kicking myself later if I don't ask those here who know a lot more about this stuff than I do for their thoughts.

I'll keep the Asus Strix GTX 1080ti from my old rig until the new Nvidia cards are released though the rest of the system will be new.
Here's what I'm considering:

CPU - Ryzen 3900x
Motherboard - Asus Crosshair VIII X570 WiFi (I need the abundant USB Ports)
Case - Phanteks Evolv X Silver
RAM - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB 3600Mhz RAM
PSU - Asus ROG Thor 850W (I know it's more than I need though I like the aesthetic)
SSD - 2TB Sabrent Rocket M.2
GPU - Asus Strix GTX 1080ti (taken from old rig)
CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Platinum RGB (maybe)

I'm undecided on the cooler though have been considering an RGB all in one cooler.
I'm hoping to put together a relatively silent rig (some noise at load is fine)

I'm not as up to speed on pc components lately as I once was so any advice or constructive criticism is welcome.
I know that overall some of the parts are more expensive than strictly necessary though I keep my PC's for a long while so don't mind spending a bit extra if the PC performs, sounds and looks good.
I'm still open to changing my mind on what parts to use though.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any advice.

For a silent build you may want to go with a beefy heatsink like the Noctua NH-D15 Chromax or BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, you can run those fans slow and they won't be audible. With an AIO - depending how sensitive to noise you are and how close you are to your case - you may find the pump noise can be heard over slow fans.

Motherboard doesn't offer very good value, if you need more USB ports, buy a hub? You are essentially paying 200 extra for USB ports. The Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 has 10 external USB.

The case you selected doesn't have optimal air flow, are you open to the idea of a different case? The Phanteks P400 Air is a good mesh fronted case.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £437.22 (includes shipping: £12.30)

For its super luxury price that board doesn't even have two USB3 headers!
While lot cheaper Gigabytes have that.
Besides Gigabyte's chipset cooler being in position where it has chance to stay passive instead of being bathed by graphics card's heat!
Unless having air conditioning, chipset of that Asus will be reaching Finnish sauna temps (90C good, more=better) in longer gaming sessions under high heat output graphics card once summer starts heating up room.
In Finnish PC forum one user with precisely that Asus had chipset running at 83C under 2080 Ti in December with around zero outside temps.

Also if purpose is to have USBs to throw around, you would be taking equally super luxury priced case with only two front USB-As and no way to add them!
Lot cheaper Define R6 would have two additional USB2 A ports for start and ability to take more USB3s into 5.25" bay:

PSU - Asus ROG Thor 850W (I know it's more than I need though I like the aesthetic)
That price is firmly in 12 year warranty Seasonic Prime Titanium area.
And for actually special look white sure beats standard black:

But anyway because of people apparently using such garbage PSUs, fashion cases hide it under that BS shroud making PSU's look entirely moot point.
So unless using angle grinder to cut that BS shroud away you'll never see PSU once its installed!

...until the new Nvidia cards are released
Have even bigger tube of lube ready, because Nvidia will no doubt bring up big caber because of previous butt pumping having gone so succesfully.

I have been considering an air cooler though was partly motivated by the look of an AIO. I have a Corsair H100 in my current rig though I can definitely hear the pump in it. I was hoping that modern AIO's had improved on this.
My first thoughts were either the Noctua NH-D15 or the Scythe Fuma 2.

Mainly I had considered the above motherboard as it has good reviews overall, all the features I might have wanted and it's USB ports are all either USB 3.2 or USB 3.1. Which is a rarity.
I've had issues with some devices and USB 2.0 ports. I expect that to be more frequent as time goes on.

I had been avoiding mesh type cases as I've read that they're generally a bit noisier. I know that the Evolv X isn't the best case on the market when it comes to cooling though it seems adequate in that regard and is relatively quiet while still keeping a good looking aesthetic. I like the Fractal R7 for example though as this is going to sit on my desk I was hoping to build something that looks good too. Though if that turns out to not be suitable then I'm willing to switch to a less aesthetically pleasing build.

Have a watch of this.

Personally I went with the Fractal Define 7. Door is closed when doing daily tasks, I open the front door when gaming and ramp the fans. Best of both worlds.
