CPU in/out let wrong way?.

Hi all,

Hope we're all safe and well.

Over the last few days I've done my customer water loop. I'm very happy with the out come of it.

Today when i was getting a few pictures of my build and I noticed that my CPU block THIS ONE has arrows on it, After reading up about it I didn't realise it has an in/out let order. I've put the tubing in the wrong way round, so my out let is my in let and out is in.

Dose this matter or not?.

Loop order pump/res - cpu - gpu - rad- rad

I have a 3700x @4ghz @1.0v and 2080ti stock in my loop, My rads are 2x EK PE 360 with a EK -Res 140 DDC 3.2.

Temps idle cpu - 30'c load gaming at 48'c but prime 65'c. GPU 27'c idle, gaming/furmark 45'c.

Any help would be great.

you'd probably want to change the order, the inlet will lead down to the jet plate that will distribute the water evenly over the cpu, which would lead to a temp decrease, not too much of a issue with a 3700x as it has 1 chiplet under the ihs plus the i/o die, but besides that I'd recommend changing the order.

doing so will allow much better temps and allow for higher overclocking too
 
loop order doesn't really matter, jayz2cents on YouTube made a video on such a topic, yes temps will be a few degrees more but in the general scheme of things it wont impact the cooling of the loop.


i have my distro plate going to my gpu, 360mm rad, then to the cpu/vrm's, up to the second 360mm rad and finally back to the distro plate.
My temps are awesome, gpu never breaks 50 degrees and cpu sits around 65 degrees

that video is not what the guy is talking about. That is talking about loop order and not outlet / inlet order for the blocks
 
err.... ok, the video shows that the order of the loop doesn't matter as long as the pump has water from a res then you can go cpu/gpu to rad or gpu/cpu to rad, the original topic was the intel and outlet of the cpu block being reversed which is not recommended, the op asked if they should have a specific order for the loop but loop order is irrelevant as the loop will reach equilibrium eventually, the temp difference is a few degrees at best dependent on which loop order you pick.

the op said they would order more pipe to correct the reversed cpu block which indicates that there may be more pipe spare hence the question does loop order matter (perhaps thinking of changing the loop around?)
 
Yes in terms of loop order, as long as res feeds the pump, the rest of the loop can be in any order and make no difference.

fixed that for you. Putting all the heat generators in sequence without any heat reducers imbetween will cause the later components to be ever so slightly (1-2C) hotter unless you have really significant flowrate. Given that any loop with multiple heat generators will have a reduced flow compared to a cpu-only loop for example simply because of increased tube, fittings, bends, and blocks it is inevitable that the water temperature will be slightly higher as it reaches the last component where the heat generators are sequential.

For example, one of my rigs goes pump-TitanX-1070-280-cpu-420-pump. Originally it went from pump-TitanX-1070-cpu-280-420-pump and the cpu was 2C higher than in the current sequence.
