Trump Tries to Sell 100,000 Coronavirus Deaths as a “Very Good Job”

Source

Already setting expectations and how he would be measured. Incredible all he is concerned about is how this makes him look. He doesnt give a **** about people or their lives.

This can't be possible, Trump told everyone he shut the whole thing down back in late Jan early Feb.

The amount of dishonest context-less "headline" reporting is staggering -

"So you’re talking about 2.2 million deaths, 2.2 million people from this. And so if we could hold that down, as we’re saying, to 100,000. It’s a horrible number, maybe even less —but to 100,000. So we have between 100,000 and 200,000, and we altogether have done a very good job," he said.

So the REAL headline is is -

"Trump says getting down to only 100,000 deaths from an originally estimated 2,000,000 deaths is a very good job but that number is still Horrible"

And people wonder why the press, on both sides, absolutely can not be trusted in any way shape or form anymore when vitally important "context" is removed for political point scoring that only morons believe in at a time like this.

EDITED - Good point @Kyo I missed out a word so I've edited it back in.

Conveniently forgetting Trump originally saying the number of deaths would be down to zero in a matter of days. He only gets away with this level of bs due to the dimwitted nature of his support.

Exactly. Remember this?

Wow Pot Kettle anyone? Notice how you conveniently missed out the emphasis on "very good job" (get it right please) which any normal person in their right mind wouldnt then associate to success which backs up my original point he looking at this purely how he is perceived. Any number of deaths is not good full stop.

Look at this clown now Quoting

WHO got it wrong, got it very wrong, many ways they were wrong. They also minimised the threat very strongly.

He has totally switched his own failures to the WHO. You can replace that sentence to Trump and that would be much closer to the truth. Not sure about the "very strongly" part as he could have articulated that better with his superior intellect/genes but we all know in reality his vocabulary is limited of a 10 year old.

An estimated additional 180 - 195 deaths per day occurring at home in New York City due to COVID-19 are not being counted in the official figures. "Early on in this crisis we were able to swab people who died at home, and thus got a coronavirus reading. But those days are long gone. We simply don't have the testing capacity for the large numbers dying at home. Now only those few who had a test confirmation *before* dying are marked as victims of coronavirus on their death certificate. This almost certainly means we are undercounting the total number of victims of this pandemic," said Mark Levine, Chair of New York City Council health committee [

hmm that would add 10% to their daily totals, they hit almost 2000 dead each day over the past 2 days now the US military figures were added in retrospectively.

That's a remarkable degree of bias and misleading the reader, to the extent that I would say that it would be reasonable to call it a lie.

Now you're going to reply by saying that it's true, he said that...which requires ignoring the fact that taking 3 words from a briefing in order to create the story you want is not really the truth.

Already setting expectations and how he would be measured. Incredible all he is concerned about is how this makes him look. He doesnt give a **** about people or their lives.

And then you take the disinformation further and blatantly lie about what he said, claiming that he said "I" when in fact he said "we altogether" when addressing all the people of the country.

When faced with a pandemic that would probably kill over 2 million people in your country, keeping the deaths down to 100,000 by concerted action is doing a very good job.

The 2.2m was a worst case do nothing scenario.

When it was talked about and getting it down to 100,000, Dr Fauci had this to say.

“Is it going to be that much? I hope not, and I think the more we push on the mitigation, the less likelihood it will be that number ... We are really convinced mitigation is going to be doing the trick for us.”

So he's not doing a good job on that basis if 100k people die.

It's also not over yet, he's got chance to screw it up, and if he can, he will.

When did he say that? Did he say it explicitly about the figure of 100,000? Your quote had no source and no context.

Also, Dr Fauci was portraying optimism to the public. Like Trump was. He's doing it far more competently than Trump did, unsurprisingly, but that's what he's doing. Hence him saying "I hope not" rather than making any definite statements.

When Trump said he had it completely under control and that the death rate would be zero in a matter of days, this despite thousands already dying in other countries, how do you excuse that? He must have known that was complete fantasy and it's also telling that he's accusing the WHO of exactly the same failing he showed himself.

Barr: What happened to POTUS was one of the greatest travesties in American history, no basis for this investigation, what’s even more concerning is what happened after the campaign, a whole pattern of events... to sabotage the presidency

Trump's lapdog taking my conspiracies and repeating them on FOX without my permission, how dare he

Thank you. It was as I expected and not how you and kyo claimed.

As I said before:

Trump's a blithering idiot who's incompetent at his job. Dr Fauci isn't. But the goal is the same - promoting optimism. Which is part of the job.

US will soon overtake Italy with total number of deaths.

China clearly not released accurate figures and have been secretive since day one.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

USA has a much larger population than Italy. If you look at cases per population and look at the log scale to get a genuine comparison between countries, you'll find that the curves for the USA and Italy are almost identical and that vast majority of countries are very similar.

Shows how much of a lunatic this Orange skinned cretin is, caring about ratings in a pandemic update like it's his presence making people tune in.
