Nothing is going to happen.
And what a waste of tax payers money.

The US government has a long history of wasting tax payers money in far worse ways than this !

He won't be removed from office but the Dems already know that, it's about influencing swing voters for the 2020 election. His base don't care and will always vote for him but swing voters may think otherwise, or maybe not... we'll see in 2020. It was a card worth playing for the Dems although some would argue they should have gone after him over Yemen rather than the Ukraine scandal.

I think pretty much every president who faces a congress controlled by the opposition will get impeached as a matter of course from now on for the political optics.

I`m not a fan of Trump but there was no actual evidence, just two charges of `trumped up` hear say and `he wouldnt incriminate himself`.

Obviously the Senate will acquit and the democrats who voted for impeachment in unsafe seats are in for a fun 2020.

Still gotta pass the senate and it will take something fairly substantial to manage that.

Technically,no. Impeachment occurs in the house. Trump has been Impeached and nothing changes that. The senate decide if he should he removed from office.

Just trying to decide if I give a **** decided I really do not, fortunately for the BBC News Channel the rest of the world stopped so they could give us full coverage of the quite bizarre speeches from the two sides in the early hours this morning.

Unless actually removed from office though it is kind of meaningless.

to a large extent sadly yes. But there was no choice. A crime occurred, there was evidence and multiple witness, the case is rock solid. The Dems would look very weak if they failed to impeach such black and white treason

The outcome might not mean Trump's removal, but the GOP sets a very dangerous precedent. Basically, any President with senate majority will have absolute power. A a future democratic President would be able to enlist the help of foreign governments in digging dirt on Republicans with immunity

I really wish America would bring back that all-American traditional cultural past-time of assassinating or attempting to assassinate presidents. Would have saved us the last few years of nonsense on the TV and would save us the next few years after this announcement.

Isn't this like the 4th time or more the left have tried to impeach him?

What has he actually done wrong apart from rubbish tweets?

Some of the people who worked for him, who didnt like him, claimed that he had a plan to leverage aid to Ukraine to get information on a political rival.

No hard evidence mind, and Ukraine has gone on record as saying that they had no idea, which is kind of important.

Basically the Democrats slinging dirt to try and undermine Trump in 2020 since their prefered candidate doesnt look too favourable atm.

No. This is the first time, and it succeeded.

There are however multiple other situations where, had it been another President there would have been an Impeachment.

Senior Dems were absolutely loathe to impeach him, but this was the final straw that they just couldn’t sit back and ignore, even though they knew he won’t be removed from office.

It’s got to the point now where all the Republicans have left to support Trump are literal conspiracy theories.

History is not going to be kind to Trump, but extreme precedents (like soliciting foreign interference in American politics) can’t be allowed.
