General Headphone Audio

Guest2/Marsman/michty_me

Thanks all for your help, I will look into getting this mini XLR adaptor.

Could you please tell me if this adaptor brings any change to the sound? also how would I be able to split the Mic from the O2 Amp?

I tried using the Boom Mic through the Amp before and I was told it sounded like a Remington Shaver lmao! :p

I've had no issues and been told my mic is crystal clear. I'm using it on a sound blaster G6 on pc and a G1 on PS4.
Edit: no noticeable reduction in sound quality either.

I don't, but I did see a good video where someone compared it to the wired one. There is another someone posted in another thread some time back, but the guy only tried the wireless one. Hard to gauge how good something is without something to compare to. The other chap did a really good job in comparing them and how they sound.

Anyway; the wireless one is good, but the wired one does sound noticeably better. I supposed it depends whether wireless is important enough for someone to pay twice as much for something that doesn't sound as good.

Yep - I use it for PS4 - work fantastically and sound quality very good. I also have the K702/adaptor/Boompro setup and thinking of also using the wireless ModMic with those instead due to the Vmoda Mic hanging a bit lower than would be ideal.

Thanks lads. I must admit, it's just the convenience of one less cable that appeals, so probably not worth the extra expense if I am honest.

I was thinking about the ModMic as well but if I can get the adaptor for £18 instead, will save myself shelling out a further £30 on new mic or could always dust off the old logitech desktop mic :P

How far does it hang down?

Angerer, do the AKG not feel tight / crush your head or ears? Tempted to get them but not sure as I'll end up buying a seperate adapter and V-MODA BoomPro. If I don't get on with them them am stuck with yet more adapters

Guest2, I am still waiting to receive them.

From what I am seeing/reading they're not as comfy as Sennheiser (loved my HD555/HD600) but they have removed the bumps on the leather headband which gets a lot bad feedback from other models K701/Q701 etc.
As for the clamp not sure yet but will let you know once they arrive.

I am still trying to figure out how I am going to split these

D2X > O2 Amp > Headphone

Headphone > Mic > D2X

I bought them because I wanted a more gamer type headphone with wider soundstage, the Fidelio X2 are really fun as well and the boom mic fits these very well but just wanting to try something new.

I was also looking at buying Senns again, really loved my HD600 wish I kept now :p

I imagine you'd use one of those headset separator cables, like this one: - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micropho...299867?hash=item3da0a6ef5b:g:pKwAAOSw4tJehu8~

You'd also likely need an extension cable once you've separated into two jacks, unless you have the O2 directly next to the sound card.

:D

I've still got the HD600's. They could do with new pads though as they are looking somewhat flattish. Nowhere near as bad as some pics I've seen where the foam has disintegrated, just a bit flat. I saw a pictures someone posted of new and old pad comparison on 650's the poster sent for refurb. The before looked like the pads on my 600's, but the new pads looked so much fuller.

Of course, as you know, the HD600/650's are no good for use with the V-Moda. At least that is possible with the AKG's. Modmic only for the Senn's.

I've now ordered some too. Just want to see how I get on with the larger cup sizes.
I'll be using them with a Xonar Essence.
If they are comfy I will look into Mic options, at the moment I am thinking (based on multiple responses on here) a small adapter and the V-MODA BoomPro. The BoomPro appears to have mute and volume controls which are useful, isnt too expensive and won't add much cable bulk.

They will sort you out. Cracking little adapter.

+1 also really great service they do there. I sent my DT770 off to have the horrible coiled cable replaced with an adapter so I could use what I wanted.

Odd thing though, the adapter reversed the l/r sound channels on my K712, they fixed it. Then I got some K7XX and it was reversed on those, again fixed FOC

My first adapter went missing so they sent another. It showed up a few weeks after the second arrived so I advised them so I could pay for the second one, they told me just to keep it FOC.

Are you interested in selling it on? I expect the it will take a while for electronicmusicservices to get one posted, that's if they have them in stock.

Not at the minute, I have one at home and the other is in a locker on an oil rig so can't get it for a number of weeks unfortunately.

Thank you Marsman,

I have a "Y" Separator that came with the VModa Mic, though the separator you linked looks a lot better. Will I noticed any sound change or loss with all these extra addons?

Hahaha yeah I miss those HD600s mate, anytime you want to let them go.. I want first dibs please mate :P :D
