Connecting sky dish to quad plex outlet

Hi all,

I'm trying to work out how to connect a sky dish to a quadplex outlet in the picture below.

There's two wires (coax or sat cables) going away from the left hand of this socket up into the loft, and two cables coming away from the sky dish sky dish. Could I either join the cables from the dish and from the socket together in the loft?

Hopefully my explanation makes sense!
 
Are you sure theres only two coas cables to that?. The output module on the elft normally takes two, a combined sat/tv/fm and then a second one for sat2. The modules in the middle and right are just separate TV outlet modules and they would take a coax each, not sure what these are for, one might be a return to the aerial amplifier for the output from a VCR/DVD etc, but not sure what the other would be.

Normally you have an amplifier that takes separate sat tv and fm feeds (you feed the first lnb feed into this) then normally you have a combined output of sat/tv/fm on port one that you feed down to the first connection on the plate (the triplexed one) then your second lnb goes straight to sat2

To confirm, there's four cables into the back box, two to the left hand side with the Sat1/sat2/tv/radio and two to the right hand side with the 2 standard coax sockets.

An amplifier in the loft sounds like it might be what I'm after, plug the feeds from the sky dish into it, then all the coax's in the loft into it and let it do the work?

Do you have any links or recommendations to something which might do the job? For my mums place so doesn't need to be too fancy, budget is fine :)
 
Are you going to be using Sky Q?

I have mine installed last year and the installer said he would have to bypass my Triax Multiswitch and also bypass the same wall plate that you've got as neither were compatible with Sky Q.

Sky + on the other hand is Ok he said.

Yeah I believe she wants Sky Q in the bedroom, if you've got the time, how does that fit into the situation?

Truth be told I have no real idea how sky Q works as I've got a HTPC with Kodi on it so no need for a subscription service :p
 
If its sky Q that changes things somewhat, I've just done in a bit of research on how the hardware differs for this, that triplex'ed plate is not suitable for sky Q because the filters inside will cut off some of the frequencies associated with sky Q. You'd best bet is to replace that module on the left with two of these https://www.toolstation.com/euro-module-tvsat-outlet/p64424 for the two feeds from the sky q wideband LNB.

My previous post was aimed at older sky systems, I hadn't kept upto date on what Sky Q needed in order to work

Superb, when we're out of lockdown I'll go do some more digging in the loft and identify which are the sky cables and connect them to the cables from the dish, then replace the ends with these, cheers :)
