1.6 inline 4 cylinder turbo from my Hyundai Veloster Turbo.
Halfords?
Why? Are you tuning a Veloster? Not really a car I'd associate with pumping £lol in to tbh.
It's a bit different sure but there are a lot of parts out there for it and the entry price was low. It's simple to work on for day to day stuff and has a lot of features still.
You'll struggle to find a specialist. It's not an engine which appears in anything associated with petrolheads.
Best bet is to find whoever does mapping on it. A lot of mappers specialise in certain hardware only. Chances are then they can either do or at least recommend someone for the engine work.
How much power are you after? You might find the stock engine can take a fair bit more power reliably before putting pistons & rods etc in.
I'm not really looking for a specialist, it's a fairly simple 4 pot engine so I just need someone competent
with the tools really.
If I had the 2nd revision engine from 2013/2014 i'd be fine but mine is a first year so has relatively weak rods so I can't push it much further than it is. Going from 9.5:1 to 10:1 will be a nice boost too.
For now i'd be really happy with 250BHP (crank compared) but anything in the 240-250 range would be good. Once I get the clutch sorted I'll be able to get the improved turbo for an extra 70-80 BHP.
For the amount you will spend on the rebuild and associated upgrades, just sell yours and buy something else or a later revision.
He doesn't mean buy a 1.2 though, the i30N has around the power you're looking for as an example as well as loads of other cars. It makes financial sense unless you're seriously emotionally invested in the veloster.Finding a later revision in the UK... that's tricky as there is maybe 1 on the market at a time and if I did go for the turbo that would need doing anyway. Plus your suggestion sounds extremely boring, I could buy an eco 1.2 5 door and it would take me to work if I needed it just the same but that's not the point.
Do they actually make 3rd party performance parts for that engine?

Swap it for a Focus ST. Tuner support is all over and just a remap will get it to about 270hp.
