Because they are much better for little less more.

That is a fact. Steelseries are a gimmicky brand. Audeze and sennheiser are sound specialists.

It's like someone buying a gaming chair which looks like a recaro racing seat vs a proper office chair like herman miller.

Anything associated to gaming is usually gimmicky and overpriced as a result.

Wow, so by that definition you're suggesting that nobody should bother with Noblechairs as they're gimmicky and overpriced?

I have the Q701's and they are the best competitive gaming headset you can buy period a slightly modded version of the K702. Both are very very similar though.

Mine squeak a lot so I've had to stuff cardboard into both sides to stop the plastic on plastic contact.

My Steelseries headset has at least never needed cardboard stuffing into it...

Yeah they are an old model now. Replaced by the K702.

The bumps on the q701 are annoying so I'm looking to mod them my knitted cover has helped but not enough.

I too read that the K702 were replacements of the Q701 and K701 (with the 'death bumps') :D

Even my 702s, I have no idea where they didnt use any padding at all. Maybe they all have really big hair or Afros so it doesnt both them but on a shaved head, even the 702s get a bit uncomfy after a while. No pressure on my ear but it starts to irritate the top of my head where all the pressure is at one point.

Ideas below, it really needs foam either side to take the pressure off the top
The gel part off an old mousemat would be a bit too heavy i think. Might go with a bit of foam either side and the silk square thing ive robbed off my girlfriend - no idea what it's used for

All they really needed to add was something like this. It would have cost peanuts and hardly added any weight

The downside of this (other than the cost) is that it would need sticky taping / glueing onto the AKG headband... or my head :D

Steelcase Please v2

Next up, new carpet!

I got one of these a few weeks ago. Best chair I've ever used, much better than the Herman Miller Aerons imo. Really comfortable and supportive sat upright or reclining. Really great back stretch when you lean back and the backrest articulates. Love it.

Splashed out on some Okatsune 103 Secateurs. Of course I had to buy the holster for it. And then the sharpening stone. :D

Off out to trim my bush...I will be sure to maintain social distancing.

My missus spent the last few days researching secateurs and they were high up on her list to buy. She ended up ordering some Felco ones.

Why didn't you buy a gaming chair just for info. ;)

Apparently the older austrian made ones are better. Issues started appearing when production moved to china. It doesn't effect the sound at all. Just build quality and cheaper materials in the plastic causing friction and squeaking. If the choice is between a mediocre overpriced headset vs the best headphones that money can buy for cheap that requires a little modding then I can live with that.

I have toyed with the idea of putting glue into the crack but that is permanent and would restrict movement / comfort. It's not proper cardboard either it was a card much like a business card cut thinly to size and then jammed into the crevice. You can't even tell it's there now.

You can get a knitted cover off aliexpress for like £1.50 shipped. The same covers on ebay are 10 times that. I went for an all black one with buttons. It's went from being death bumps to only sore if you wear for an all nighter. I need to get some cotton wool or foam and then glue it or position well then put the knitted cover over it. The knitted covers are very neat looking and protect the headband.

Plus my lime Q701's always get compliments but I know some people won't like an luminous green headphone.

There is no squeaking, the Austrian ones appear to have the same hard leather headband with no padding too.

I got given two herman miller chairs a long time ago (2013 I think). They looked brand new and still look and feel brand new. I use one a lot and would not use any other chair! That HAG one looks nice tho!

I have these, use them extensively, but I have hair, fine for me. :p

Spent some of my redundancy on a new laptop for starting my own business - yes, it's a gaming laptop BUT I was pretty restrained with what I went for and after 17 years of service I felt like treating myself a bit after a rotten 12 months. It can run Word as well as Doom :D

Thanks to OcUK for getting it delivered really quickly too considering the current situation.
