Live Stream of my Bird Box - Bluetits Nesting - Chicks Hatching Now

It’ll be great when she lays eggs. I think they lay the equivalent to their body weight in a few days, it’s crazy. Mine are still building their nest above my study. It breaks the day up watching them. They were bringing in mostly moss, but they seem to have found fur somewhere like yours.

So today will be interesting as its only the second time it has rained since she started nesting and the last time she was only one day in so I'm not sure what differences we might see in her activities today.

Some really fascinating behavior this morning though. The male arrives and perches in the hole and watches her sleep for just over five minutes perfectly silently. He then decides to wake her up and he flies away. She then takes a few minutes to compose herself and leaves the box for the day. Not seen that before.

Note the exterior camera view - male perched on the outside of the box watching her while shes still sleeping - given that they're so fidgety normally this was an unusual display of patience and a deliberate effort to keep quiet.

Don't jinx it! I'm hoping we've got the the process sorted now. Want to iron out any kinks before egg laying (hopefully) starts so we can be as stable as possible and not miss anything exciting.

I would say try to do the layout like how I put it before in the paint jobby. That layout for 4 cams would be perfect. I think she is going to nest properly in cam 01 box for sure.

If you can do some text overlay mention on the bottom of each which cam it is.

Not sure what is going on right now.

Stream says its feeding YouTube, I've restarted the steam four times and the machine twice but nothing is showing on YouTube.

I'll just have to come back to it in a bit as I don't know what else I can try.

I was going to try something.

If you forward a port from your router to your camera I might be able to get the content on a webpage without going through YouTube.

That should improve your feed a lot because it's not been cached by YouTube then and going directly to your feeds!

Means you are cutting out the middle man and could certainly do higher res.

Have you done anything like that before? :) I could create you a proper feed site.

Today she came in quite early due to the rain and the low light and settled down.

Sorry about the lack of feed. Still having problems. Don't know how to solve them right now. Getting very very frustrated with it.

I've started and stopped the stream more times than I can count. I've restarted the machine, I've removed my Youtube credentials and relinked them, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software and I've tired a totally different machine that I was streaming with earlier in the week.

I can only conclude its my YouTube account.

I can start a feed and the software says its streaming but when I go to my Live URL it just shows a play back recording of yesterdays stream. Obviously I've cleared cache and verified on different browsers and devices. I've also checked that the feed isn't showing at any other URL under my account.

So right now for reasons unknown I just can't stream at all. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'll leave the software feeding overnight in the hope it sorts itself out but I very much doubt it.

Have you done anything like that before?

I know how to forward ports yes I could set that up. The external camera might be a bit more complicated as it needs a login and I've also been doing some cropping and rotation to it.

XSplit does have an option to send the combined feed to a website I think its RMTP don't know if you can embed that or not?

I'll run some tests with you tomorrow if you like?

Yeh could do the RTSP stream for the multi cam Xsplit would be great. I’ll embed that into a page and see what I can come up with. Not 100% sure if that’s based on ports either I’ll have a read of some xsplit documentation.

EDIT 1: I have just had a check and it looks like xsplit only pushes to a streaming server first. Doesn’t look like you can pull the stream into a webpage but I might be wrong.

EDIT 2: Thinking about it, you already have the streaming server set up as you said you are recording. It would be a matter of pulling that info into a website but still would need ports opened to do this. Which means you wouldn't need to keep changing the URL as it would be already pulling that information into the webpage. :)

Looks like we are back on YouTube

I'll check out the format and locations of the recordings, although I've been pressing record I've not validated any of them to be honest.

All quiet today. Shes been out most of the day.

I've read that nest building slows down as she gets closer to egg laying which by my estimate is due to start roughly next weekend.

Awesome! Can't wait for her to start laying.

Guessing you are further south than me then? I'm in North Wales. Been following some other streams and it looks like we are about 7-10 days behind most of them.

Others in following started laying approx day 14 of nesting. How long was it for you?

I'm just above Stevenage so about 100 miles south of you

We had a month of visits from the pair before she started serious nest building, it then took her about 12 days to get it ready for the first egg. Eggs should start hatching about 12-14 days after penultimate egg is laid

We've had a nest in that box (with camera) for over 12 years now :)

Oh is it? Thanks for letting me know.

How is if if you pull the slider back and watch in like a minutes delay?

Is it ok then or still bad?
