Black screen / no signal - Geforce RTX 2060

So i just got a new graphics card from Overclockers - Palit Geforce RTX 2060.

I swapped it out for my old graphics card which was a GTX 950 but I'm getting a black screen and no signal to the monitor, i've tried 2 different HDMI cables and a DVI cable but still nothing.

I thought maybe a driver issue so i disabled any other drivers including the onboard drivers but still black screen / no signal.

So, having already removed the Geforce RTX 2060 I boot up using the onboard graphics and download the appropriate drivers but when attempting to install i get the following error message.

"X Nvidia Installer Cannot Continue, This Nvidia Graphics Driver is Not Compatible with this version of Windows. This Graphics Driver Could Not Find Compatible Graphics Hardware".

Windows 10 and fully up to date
GIGABYTE Z370P D3 Motherboard
8th Gen I-3 Processor
2x 8GB Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM
Not sure about the monitor - Acer something

All connections are clean and secure
RAM and Graphics card are clean and fully seated
I tried a few things from Youtube videos like
Disconnecting the power from the monitor and holding the button in to reset
Removing the battery from the Motherboard
Tried the graphics card in a different slot

I get signal with the old graphics card and with the onboard graphics but not with the Palit Geforce RTX 2060 so now I'm starting to think I've been sent a faulty graphics card.

Oh, I had to get a PCIE Adapter Cable as my current power supply has only 6 pin and the RTX 2060 needs 8 pin.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Is this 2 x 6 pin to 1 x 8 pin? If not, then you need a new power supply. Even if it is, generally not recommended to use adapters. If the power supply doesn't have the correct connectors to start off with, it's not designed to do what you want it to do.

How old is the power supply? What brand is it? And what model?

Its had it mate get a new card.

Thanks, i'll give that a go, it is a rather old power supply i've had it going on 7 years and I don't even know what brand and model it is.

I've had a low budget for a few years so just been upgrading bits and pieces as i go, i never really though the power supply would be much of an issue, i guess that's the next thing to get upgraded.

Yes, it's not necessarily down to the power supply. BIOS update is a good shout, I just mentioned that because if you're hanging expensive 20 series cards off an old one, it's not the wisest thing to do to keep an old one, especially if not a fairly reputable brand.

But I'd certainly be trying a BIOS update as suggested above. Certainly worth getting a new power supply further down the road too when you have saved up a bit, 7 years is quite long to run one.

All great advice guys thank you, however still no luck, i got a new 850w modular power supply and a new HDMI cable, I then got a new SSD with a clean install of windows to rule out driver conflicts but i can't even install the drivers because the gfx card needs to be installed to install them but if the card is installed I don't get signal to the monitor.

I've submitted a webnote to OC to have the item replaced.

Hmm, intriguing that you have the BS issue on the 2060.
Can you go into your Bios and tab over to Bios and tell me what it says for:
Fast Boot: Enabled or Disabled
CSM Support: Enabled or Disabled
VGA Support: Auto or EFI Driver (this only shows up when you have Fast Boot Enabled)

Could you try 2 things:
1`st
CSM Support: Enabled
VGA Support: Auto (this only shows up when you have Fast Boot Enabled)

2'nd
Fast Boot: Disabled
CSM Support: Enabled

Hey mate thanks for the help, I tried both of these but still getting no signal.

Did you try a BIOS update too?

I did manage to update the BIOS, was scared to try it at first in case I bricked it but I got it, there were a few updates, one in particular got me excited because it had Improve graphic card compatibility.

I wasn't sure if the latest update would include all the previous updates so I started updating each one individually using @BIOS because my motherboard doesn't support QFlash, the option to update from Gigabyte Server didn't work but i managed to download them and update from file.

However, @BIOS has come up with an error now "The Driver Can't Release Due to Failure" so i've been unable to do all the updates I got the one with Improve graphic card compatibility tho
still getting no signal when i put the RTX 2060 back in, yet onboard graphics still work and my old GTX 950 still work.

So i got a bonus from work and decided to treat myself to a new motherboard, processor and RAM.

I now have
MSI MPG X570 motherboard
AMD Ryzen 7 3700x processor
Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 16GB RAM

I replaced the HDMI cable and the power pack a few weeks ago with a 850w modular power supply decent 4k HD HDMI cable.

And still getting no bloody signal to the monitor, however.... I get no signal using on-board graphics.... I get no signal using the RTX 2060 graphics card but I do get signal if I use my old graphics card GTX 950.

The problem has to be the monitor right?

I take it you put the 2060 back in before you installed the nvidia driver ???

Moving on

Did you change the HDMI/DP lead ? If you have something like a portable TV or can use your PC with a TV then this is your best bet to bypass the monitor for a test to a different output.

Ryzen 3700x doesn't have an onboard gpu, so the motherboard hdmi won't work. Plug it into your TV? Starting to think it's the gpu that's 5 dead

Aye i think youre right, i checked, no onboard graphics and I got a new monitor, it arrived today, I've tried the gpu using the GP cable and HDMI cable, still get no signal.

I've contacted OC and asked to have the item replaced.

So annoying, I got the GPU 3 weeks ago and have bought the following trying to get the damn thing working.

Case - Thermaltake Core X71
Power - Super Flower 850w Leadex III Gold
Board - MSI MPG x570 Gaming Pro Carbon Wifi
CPU - 3rd Gen Ryzen 7 3700x
RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB 3600MHz
Monitor - HP 25x 144Hz FHD G-Sync & FreeSync 25 inch gaming monitor
New GP cable
New HDMI cable

At least you've got a nice new rig out of it ;)

Yep Graphics card was faulty, I sent it back to OC but they said it would take up to 28 days to test/send back to the manufacturer and issue a replacement.

I wasn't able to wait 28 days so ordered Gigabyte RTX 2060 super 8Gb from a Amazon which got delivered pretty rapid and it was only a little bit more expensive than the Palit Geforce RTX 2060 6Gb.

OC should hopefully be refunding my payment soon.

Thanks to everyone who posted advice and suggestions.

Not seen many people go to that extent over a faulty GPU. Looks to me more like you did want a full upgrade over a hot tub. :)
