I was just thinking with all of these shutting down what has happened to all of their stock. Has it just gone to waste?

They can't freeze the meat and use it later right? Also , i am assuming that thousands of animals have a stay of execution while demand for meat isn't needed right now for these companies?

They donated it to front line workers and food charity's such as fareshare.

The meat is transported and stored in the freezer. Its the buns that cost next to nothing and possibly the fridge stock that might be written off.

A lot of the fridge stock is suitable for freezing also so I suspect that they may have frozen what can be.

I don’t care about their stock. I want to stuff my cheeks with a zinger tower, a Big Mac and a BK double helumi Burger.

They haven't shut down in Australia. I had McDonald's and KFC in the last 2 weeks. Hot n Spicy drumsticks must go on.

They will be opening up again as other services are. They don't legally have to stay shut if they don't want to. takeaways etc can remain open with distancing measures in place.

I've had kebabs the last week.

McDonalds, stock was given to NHS/homeless charities on closing, distributed for several collection points. The meat comes in frozen, and can have long use by dates so could well be still sat in the freezer.
There is a fair bit of frozen stock, we have 3 deliveries a week and in our small drive through do about 10k's worth of business a day...
All the suppliers are furloughed too, once reopening starts it will take around 3 weeks to get everything up and running again.
There's a plan for reopening, first will be a few places in London, limited opening times, no breakfast menu, drive through/delivery only, strict social distancing, all staff wearing masks etc etc...

My kids and I had a Five Guys last night. Online order only, collection only, no sit in. It was glorious! Double patty, grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon and barbecue sauce.
