Had my system for about 7 years now. Still runs fine but CPU showing its age so waa going to upgrade.

Based on specs in my signature is replacing to Ryzen 3600, Aorus B450 Elite and 16GB DDR4 3200MHz ram sound like my best upgrade.

All other parts seem fine.. could probably do with replacing HDD for SSDs but at £100 per 1TB.

I still have an RX580 so assuming I won't need to upgrade that as I only play 1080P at 75HZ currently.

Cheers

I would say yes going for Ryzen 3600 and 16gb of RAM would be a great update, the RX580 will also be great for 1080p gaming

A decent sized SSD would go nicely but like you say most are around £100 for 1TB

I take it theres no market for selling my old cpu, ram and mobo. Would I even get anything for them or just keep in a cupboard.

Cheers,

I did want to buy a whole new PC but it would probably be a waste of the parts I have inside already (Case, Hue+, Corsair Fans, RX580 (2yr old).

Just seemed a smarter option buy the upgraded core parts as even the RX580 should run Cyberpunk/Vampire at 60FPS comforably 1080p. (hopefully).

Will mess around with bundles but seems I know what to look for in terms of specs.

Have a look on completed ebay listings, the old stuff still sells for alright money.

Board: ~ £50
4670k: ~ £50

Could advertise separately or as an assembled package with the RAM for £120 and see what offers you get. Makes a nice dent into an upgrade anyway.

Sounds like a plan, only issue ive got with the motherboard is the onboard audio, for some reason doesn't seem to work anymore. Detects stuff being plugged into the ports, but get no audio signal from them.

Likely realtek driver issues
Happens a lot
Whereas on board sound hardware failure
Isn't something that you hear about much

Any ideas of stuff to try? I use a Scarlett 2i2 so I never needed to use them after that..

But I have all the drivers installed, I plug a pair of headphones into the green input port on the back, open Sound Control and can see Speakers (HD Audio Device) with a green tick. If I play music the green level bar moves but I hear nothing from the headphones. Does the same with multiple pairs. Same issue happens if I plug into the front green input port.

Yeah sounds like the driver
Pita especially lately on windows 10 especially
Uninstall the realtek software ~assume it is realtek?
Restart pc afterwards and see if the windows drivers work
Sometimes I have had to do this a few times and mess around in sound settings
Before it works
Very frustrating but like I said it's unlikely
To be audio hardware failure which is
Good

I hadn't installed them since I done a fresh install yesterday, but I will do now to ease my mind:

Went to motherboard website download the latest audio driver and installed.
Restarted PC then tried same thing as above with headset.
Realtek panel came up showing the green input jack highlights as if something was plugged in.
Play test music hear nothing.
Tried the back panel same issue.

Im sure I messed about with all these settings a year or so ago to no success.

I had the Scarlett 2i2 for my audio device anyway, and to use a headset microphone I had to buy a little USB to 3.5MM Headset adapter and use that (still do for my mic).

Any other ideas before I claim this mobo has a faulty audio device lol.

I have Scarlet 2i2 and get myself in a right twist sorting out sound issues. Apologies if you know all this, but the 2i2 is an audio interface in its own right so if you want to listen to the headphone socket on your motherboard or the front panel socket, you have to switch the audio source from the Focusrite USB source to the Realtek source. (Right click on the speaker icon in the task bar, choose 'Open sound settings' and make the change. You may need to open the 'Manage sound devices' section if the Realtek options are not visible). I have just upgraded to Ryzen 3700x and a new motherboard and it has been a huge pain getting things working. Again, apologies if this is all old news to you.

Thanks for the reply but yeah I have done all of that. I made sure when tested my Realtek Onboard Ports that they were set as default. I even removed the Scarlett at one point.

I would clean install windows to be honest
Uninstalling realtek multiple times usually gets it going but it's a pita
Or Try using uninstaller software such as revo, iobit etc that sweep for leftover files
Most default uninstallers leave a load
Of stuff behind

This is a clean install (done yesterday) and the Realtek driver installed was the first time earlier.

Im 99% sure this is a hardware issue :(

See this a lot and it's almost always software issue
Don't remember the last time i saw onboard audio hardware failure
Try a linux live USB if the sound works you will know its a Windows /realtek issue

Will do, assuming thats just running Linux off a USB... I googled and downloaded the first website. Assuming its Ubuntu 15.4 I pick (top of list)?

I have the same cpu and board and it is still a solid system gave it to my daughter to use.

I upgraded to a 3700x tomahawk max and the crucial ballistix's 3200.

Would definitely recommend to go for the same board and ram if price's are similar.

Was it a noticeable upgrade?
