Yeh, I don’t really get how its better than other cards either. 780, 980, 1080, 2080 all around 40% improvement.
The Voodoo cards though certainly were. Something like 200% on other GPUs

Easier to do back then, node shrinks were comparatively easier and 100%+ improvements were pretty common. That started to change after the 6800 ultra x800 series iirc.
X800 was the last high end amd card to have a single slot cooler, 6800 ultra had a 2 slot cooler. That's really when thermals started to kick in more and they had to get serious about coolers.
Why? so far it has only lasted one generation of GPU releases.
That's what they're worth though. I picked up mine for £375 with a waterblock a couple of weeks ago. I was upgrading from an R9 390.A second hand one just sold in members market for £400!
If you've got £300-£400 to spend and then a waterblock to buy on top it leaves you with an overpriced 2070 or a 5700 XT or something second hand. The choice seemed obvious.

Anyone spending £400 on a gpu with no warranty is nuts. When £100 more gets you a warranty, cooler running and quieter card that also does Ray tracing.
Water isn't needed on a 2070 super they run so cool to begin with. Mine never goes above 65C

Not to mention the 2070 Super has 3GB less VRAM
Which has zero impact in performance overall.

I tend to agree but its the ludicrous pricing on the 2070S that’s fueling a lot of this. £400 is too much imho but people can make their own minds up and monitor their salt levels if it start artefacting
Factor in current supply and demand also. I had every intention of watercooling whatever card I was going to buy anyway, which is personal choice. If you take that out of the equation the cost of the card isn't £400 it's the lower end of £300. What's more nuts is OcUK finding 7 of these in the warehouse. Listing them at £599 each selling 5 and then the remaining 2 at £799.

This. At the £300-400 bracket I would stretch to a 2070 Super all day long.
Meh, 25% of a product cost for warranty isn't the smartest deal in the world either.
When spending upwards of £500 on a piece of hardware I'd like to think that it's of sufficient enough quality to not have to worry about any sort of warranty anyway. Let alone one that'll only run until the next generation is available in 2 or 3 years time.
GPUs ocasionally breakdown regardless of quality, specially 3 year old ones and then seeing how much the 2070s improved from drivers and knowing there will be more titles supported with DLSS 2.p makes it a no brainer when they are so close in price

exactly it's like saying a 3 year old samsung tv won't break. they can break any time for any reason. we have already heard stories from people on here who bought ex mined cards that lasted 2-3 months before they died then asking if they could get their money back somehow.
i'd never buy a second hand gpu unless it had only just been released recently so i know it hasn't been run into the ground by the previous user in a small matter of time.

lol its crazy dlss 2.0 warranty and likely longer driver support with warranty. No brainer!!! £400 on what will be 2 generation old gpu in 4 months is nuts!!!
