My motherboard is starting to have a few issues so have decided to get a new one I currently have a i9 9900k but I would also like to future proof for future upgrades so do just buy a new motherboard or do I switch over to AMD which seems to have the better upgrade path going forward ?
I mostly play World of Warcraft and browse the web

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

There's no future upgrade path with a 9900k
AMD is the way to go currently
Though obviously a 9900k itself will be good for years for most users
you just have no upgrade potential

Thats why i was thinking of AMD as most of us get the upgrade bug and would rather be able to upgrade the cpu if something better came along at a later date and i suppose i could get some money back by selling the 9900k

Unless your doing heavy core workloads jumping to ryzen from a 9900k will at best be a sidegrade. For WoW and browsing even a 9900k is overkill.
Maybe try pick up a cheap used motherboard once people start offloading them when LGA 1200 hits the shelves in a day or two. I would stick with the 9900k till AM5/DDR5 as AM4 only has one CPU generation left now and is pretty much EOL.
