Wickes Gold woodscrews use the Phillips Pozisquare cross head drive system. (They seem to be marketed in the UK as a Wickes proprietary system however)

It works really well. Good solid driving with no cam out.

Unfortunately, Screwdrivers/Power-tool bits for this system seem unavailable in the UK apart from the bits that Wickes supply with each box of screws.

Does anybody know where in the UK it might be possible to buy Pozisquare bits/screwdrivers other than the ones (And you only get one) that come in the box?

Even Wickes doesn't supply Bits/Screwdrivers independent of the boxes of screws (Each box of screws gets one bit supplied)

I have done various searches but thus far have failed to find anything useful.

Using a non-standard system would completely put me off buying them. Also a pain for whoever needs to remove the screws in the future.

Also if there's no cam out why would you need more than one bit per box?

I use Wera BiTorsion bits and get through dozens of boxes of screws before needing to swap them out.

The thing that is really annoying about this is that Wickes is making this their system but failing to provide any technical tool back up.

Just stupid really!

Has anyone tried grinding the tip off a ordinary bit or is the slope different. - They do look more robust.

I use Toolstation star screws but the screw itself is a bit iffy.

It appears to be a sort of Robertson screw head with a star added.

It is a very robust drive head and not prone to camming out.

The problem is that the bits that Wickes supply are only very short and are easy to lose so it would be nice to actually find some longer replacement bits and even proper screw drivers using the format.

If you read the Phillips website about these screws they're designed to work with both Phillips and Pozi drivers. You lose the claimed advantages but can still use them as standard screws.

The lack of availability for the correct drivers may be annoying but isn't a show stopper.

PSD® recesses are also backwards compatible with Phillips and Pozi driver bits. This means that if a user were to lose the PSD® driver bit, screws can still be inserted and removed using the equivalent sized PH or PZ driver bit (note: Stick-Fit® will not be achieved when using PH or PZ driver bits).

True, but they don't fit as snugly.

And yes, I have done a little more reading on the matter and they are indeed Robertson compatible too.
