Hi Folks, was just hoping to run some troubleshooting past you to see if you had any suggestions... I just tried booting my main pc and the video output is blank from the Vega 56.

  • Fans do not spin at all - not even on first switch on
  • Both DP and HDMI dont work
  • Removed and reseated GPU - no help
  • PC boots fine - I can see it's booted in TeamViewer, but only a black screen shows (no GPU to render the screen at a guess). I can access the drives etc.
  • Tried both bios positions to no avail.
Unfortunately i don't have another GPU and Covid would make it difficult to borrow one to try on the PC and i cant get in with RDP as its on Win10 Home. Does anyone have any final suggestions for me to diagnose this card please?

Tell the wife it's an essential work expense, crack open the credit card and get yourself a new card :D ....for purely work purposes of course ;)

I have this card and my fans don't spin unless under load. Obviously try reseating and re-engage both power cables as these come come loose over time. It won't power up if the power cable isn't in firmly (and mine do slip out occasionally or get loose). Do the lights on the card come on?

What's the PSU? Do you have other PSUs to switch out as that could be the other problem.
 
The pc may boot fine but if it has an igpu then it will just revert straight to that if it can’t find the GPU.

Id agree with the above and either test your PSU with a multimeter and or try different cables or ports. Better to try with another if you have one. Put the card in another pcie slot also.

After that you could go a little further with the card and measure various points on the pcb with multi meter and or strip the card and have a good look around the pcb see if anything is a miss. I’ve known even giving the pcb a good clean fixing a card before although it is very unlikely depending on what’s wrong with it. Could be toast etc.

Thanks for the feedback. Do they not even spin up straight after powering on because I'm sure mine did?!

The Pulse LED did illuminate and that only worked with the 2 power cables plugged in. I checked the power supply and it was providing a solid 12.1v

I completely exhausted my testing so got a super responsive RMA from OCUK. Let's see what they say!
