So we are trying to make our house more open plan, to this end I've removed some double doors (they were never shut anyway) but I'm not left with a wooden frame and I'm not sure how best to tidy it. I've (hopefully) attached some pics, I can't drive 4th he whole arch as its a supporting wall. Any ideas, I'd remove it and his 4th have plaster but then the dado rail would look odd.

Take the door stop off then two pack filler the hinge cut outs and decorate again.

Run a Stanley blade around where the stop meets the frame before you lever it off, should just be pinned on. If you don’t run a blade around it’ll make a mess of the existing paint when you rip it off. You’ll need to two pack there as well.

That `doorstop`looks to be part of the frame to me,too wide
You may have to fill the rebate instead

Looks like a solid frame, fill the hinge cutouts anything else will throw out the architrave on one side.

So i've measured up and the delve is approx 12mm x 44. I reckon if i used some 12mm x 35mm it would (sort of) mirror the other side nicely. Just not sure how to trim 10mm off the edge of a think piece of wood. I've seen wickes do 12x44x2.4m thats whats i'm aiming the question at.

Assuming you don't have the tools to do it yourself, do you have a B&Q or similar near you that can cut wood accurately?

Ask them to cut some 35mm strips from a 12mm MDF board maybe?

TBH i figured b and q wouldn't be open in store at the moment. There is one nearby i could inquire at.
