Hi guys. I bought the excellent Aquacomputer D5 NEXT from OCUK a week or so ago and have been waiting for other parts to arrive since then, I got them today so was about to fit my pump to the distribution plate when I felt something come away in my hands. A tiny bit of plastic on the rotor, which must have been loose, came away when I brushed my finger over it.

Can't say I'm terrible impressed with the quality of the rotor in the first place, looks as rough as a badgers bum. Also looks like it's been dropped or knocked hard, which likely led to that plastic bit being loose.

My question is simple; will this run okay and should I ignore it or should I RMA it? I don't want to have to wait even longer to get this build started.. it's been over a month already.

Or should I just epoxy the bit that fell off back on and call it a day?

IMO send it back. They are balanced and tested at the factory hence the scratches which are actually for balancing. A chunk off will mean it’s now out of balance all be it slightly but could mean a noisy pump.

You could test it and see if it sounds and runs alright if you are a bit reluctant to return it. I wouldn’t glue it on personally incase it comes off and gets stuck in a block of something.

Don't mess around, just get it replaced. If it came off so easily I would be afraid that the rotor would start disintegrating while in use. That rotor looks terrible compared to my pair of Alaphacool VP655 rotors.

Thanks guys, this is my first hard tubing build and I want to make sure it's done right. I'll contact OCUK right away about RMA'ing it.

Means I have to wait a bit longer, but I'm kinda resigned to that now. I waited weeks for my Radikult 011-D distro block which was sat in customs for forever. I can wait a bit longer, it won't kill me.

Guess I have to get more PETG tubing too.. I had no idea different manufacturers have slightly different tolerances so 14mm tubing from one company may not fit 14mm fittings from another. As I just found out the hard way.

Sigh. :(

Just as a side note, I have one of these pumps, after about 2 months the screen on it started going a bit strange, lines all down it, and fading, so I contacted Aqua computer direct, proof of purchase and a picture of the fault and they sent me a whole replacement bottom section, really quick, all in all it only took about 3 or 4 days, they are only in Germany, and DHL'd the part over to me next day. One of the best RMA experiences ive ever had, the only reason I tell you this is because if you want to get on with your build, you can send the above pictures to Aqua too and hopefully have a similar experience rather than sending the whole pump back to OC.

That's good to know, thanks. :)

I contacted OCUK and they RMA'ed it for a refund as unfortunately they had no stock. So sent it back and managed to find one from aquatuning, who are unfortunately in Germany so just waiting for it to be delivered now. They were literally the only people I could find with stock other than Amazon who wanted a ridiculous price for one.

I bought a pair of these and same thing, was told it was just due to balancing... See how you get on though.
