Hi
Looking to buy gaming PC's for my two young lads. They currently have XBox Ones but want to get into PC gaming - COD, Apex Legends etc. I've looked on Ebay and there a lots of systems that APPEAR to meet or even exceed recommended specs but I'm not sure if these cheaper machines will have quality compromises.

Are these too good to be true? Any recommendations on the type of machine I should be looking at for this type of gaming use?

Many thanks!

So, THIS type of things appears on the surface to tick the relevant boxes.

You may want to remove the link, the forum is provided by Overclockers who don’t allow links to competitors.

that spec will work, but is generally quite poor. A circa ten year old CPU, although an i7, 16GB of ddr 3 is decent but the graphics card is very poor. If your budget includes all peripherals and monitor you’re going to really struggle at £400 for each PC and all accessories.

Thanks. Link removed. Its not really a budget issue, I just looked at the spec and thought it was feasible. Likewise, not worried about a bundle. To play those types of games well, what kind of budget would I be looking at for the base unit alone without peripherals?
Cheers.

Hi there

Could you set a budget for the system as a whole, including monitor and peripherals, as it makes suggesting a system easier. Otherwise, it’s a case of “how long is a bit of string” type thing

From there we can suggest a system that meets the budget and another that exceeds, with info on why it may make sense to spend more :)

Thanks again. As I have to buy 2 of them (!!) I was hoping to get a base unit for around £600 each. I can source monitors and peripherals separately.
£600 is doable, easily. The issue at the moment is many times are out of stock due to COVID-19 shutdowns and lack of deliveries over the past 2-3 months. If no one has put together a build by tonight I’ll knock something up for you.
