How is the series X the largest by volume and size? It's quite a lot smaller than PS5 and is also square. Where as the PS5 is taller and also longer from front to back. So I'd say it has the bigger volume.

The PS5 is narrower than the XSX at both top and bottom, at the top it is about half the width. The XSX is only shorter, that's only 1 dimension out of 3.

I think you've missed a dimension. Unless you think the PS5 is less than ~15cm deep?

That photo is 2D :p and I dunno about you, but most TV cabinet and HiFi racks are like 40cm deep so that dimension is almost irrelevant. It's more how it sits from the perspective from the front.

I think the PS3 takes the title being the ugliest one for me.

The PS4 doesn't look that bad, it's not a square box, it has some styling to it which some thought has been put into it, it's just taller than the rest that's all. The XSX is the largest/biggest by volume in both footprint and size. Also, it would be interesting to compare it to the original Xbox 1.
I'm not certain the XsX is the biggest by size volume, and definitely not by footprint! In fact, it might have the smallest footprint of any day 1 release at 225cm^2(15cmx15cm).

Worth noting, the PS4 is 742cm^2 (26.5cmx28cm) .......which is more than 3 times the footprint of the XsX

If you can find a space to stand up the XSX, you should have space to stand up the PS5. Because I don't know any HiFi rack or TV stand that have that kind of vertical space for either console. The depth part is almost irrelevant because your cables will run from it.

Nice transition. So forget footprint and volume, and focus on the size of the front face? :p

By frontal area, sure the PS5 is smaller. By footprint? No chance. By volume? Maybe. I think it'll be close.

I think people are creating a mountain out of a molehill.

This is an average HiFi CD player.

It has a 440mm width, the PS5 will likely be around that, so in the world of electronics and fit into an average HiFi or TV rack, it's fine. It is bang on average.
You won't be putting either the Ps5 or XsX in a TV cabinet if you have any concerns about heat....... Plus the 15cm depth means you can keep the controllers in front of ithe XsX when charging.

If both have to be outside a cabinet and both standing which means the vertical space above it will be free...an extra 10, 15, 20cm doesn't really matter. The dimension behind it is all cables so it's only the width that really the only concern.

(Personally I put the controllers away, just charge with any USB ports I can find around the house)

I don't disagree. It's small even by HTPC standards. But by console norms the PS5 is pretty big; quite possibly the largest console ever.

Also worth bearing in mind that a lot of furniture isn't built to accommodate this old style HiFi/Home Cinema gear now. It's made to fit a Blu-Ray player, normal sized games console, or soundbar. The Series X has the same problem.

Could well be deliberate. Maybe the entire idea is to get people to stop storing their consoles in these confined cabinets and then complaining about the heat/noise :p

**** me you lot just keep finding things to complain about.

Could we please draw a line with this soon and talk about what actually matters to most? The games.

You don't like what's being said, so you want to shut down the conversation? People have waited months in anticipation to see what it looks like, and now they have revealed it, people want to discuss.
I'll be buying it, but it doesn't stop me thinking it's the most hideously grotesque behemoth console I've ever seen....... A title held by the XsX until now!

I really don't think you should buy either to save your eyes.
