Steering stiff after tracking

My brother had his tracking done because the steering wheel was a few degrees out of center. Since getting it done he's noticed the steering is a stiffer in the centre. By that he means it's a bit heavier to move the wheel from the centre but once moved it's no longer as stiff.

It's not unbearably stiff but noticeably heavier than it was previously. It's a fairly new car with no serious knocks/bangs/curbing as far as he's aware.

Could this be that the tracking wasn't done properly or could this just be normal? After all the steering wheel is now aligned but it just seems to be noticeably firmer in the center steering range than it was previously.

I've told him to take it back to have them double-check it was done properly. He just wants a few more opinions because it's a bit of a pain for him to get there mid week and doesn't want to make the journey unless he really should.

Sounds like there's more toe in. Alignment can be changed to suit the driver so it's worth having a chat with the alignment specialist about the type of driving you do.

Let's see what they say tomorrow in that case. Does it also depend on if it's RWD or FWD? His car is the former.
