Hi there. I was wondering if someone could help me as I’m really struggling to find a good gaming laptop. I bought an Alienware but was not very happy so i sending it back. I have a budget round about 17 hundreds pounds but I just cannot seem to get any luck finding one I have seen a HP omen but I’m still not sure on it. I do like a bit of RGB and a 17 inch screen sorry to picky but can anyone recommend any that are worth looking at.

Thanks Phil

Hi there. I get a student discount and I think it was a low price because a week later I found that they stopped making the configuration it was a 17m R2 had a lower spec than the omen. It was 9th Gen Intel only 9750mhz CPU 1 drive 512gb mnve.2 the HP is dual drive and cheaper and the hp is a 10th Gen Intel CPU just not a fan of the look but I could probably get used to it. Just wanted to if there is anything else eg ASUS , MSi , HP, Razor, not found Dells support the best either

Im sending it back as it was getting way to hot and I was having to turn things down such as graphics from high to medium to keep it cool and they would not even sent a replacement to even check it just thermal paste and the engineer lied to me

Hi. 100c was the maximum I saw at one stage and that was on a table. I’m going for a HP Omen 17 now though as it’s a higher spec than the Alienware and it’s cheaper and more upgradeable I was not a fan of why they soldered the memory to the board and also the internal mic did not work on it so if I wanted to use the webcam I would have had to use headphones as a mic. I’m going from a 9th Gen CPU to 10 Gen now with the HP

I got the new HP Omen 15 which arrived on Wednesday, its the new style one and temps seem very good so far, its holding the RTX 2070 at around 55 - 60C and the i7-10750 fairly solidly at about 70C, I have set the fan to manual control and not maxed out its quieter than I expected it to be. On auto it will max the fan and keep the GPU at a solid 50 and CPU as close to 60 as possible which seems over kill to me.

I would image the 17" has even better cooling.

Looks like a good laptop that, I can't find any info on how colour accurate the screen is or how decent the screen is overall in terms of BLB/colour uniformity.

I have a Datacolour Spyder 5 Pro, I always use it for screen calibration but never actually checked if it can be used to just run tests on default calibration, if anyone knows better I am happy to run tests.
