As title, which of these is the better board? Both can be had for pretty much the same price at the moment (new Mortar £157 or B Grade Aorus £150), but I'm not sure which to go for.

Obviously the x570 has been around for a while and is proven (and as I understand it, the Aorus Elite is well regarded), whereas the B550 is new and so any issues are yet to present themselves.

Edging towards the x570 as it's the higher end option, plus the extra PCIE 4.0 lanes may be useful in the future (and also the mATX Mortar might not look quite "right" in my ATX case), but there's the chipset fan to consider...

Anything else I should consider?

One thing to be aware of, there's no guarantee a B-grade motherboard will come with an I/O shield. It might well do, but I bought one a few years back (1155 socket) to save £20 compared to new, then had to buy an I/O shield off eBay for £15. Still cheaper, but an extra week wait to build my PC as it didn't look right without the shield.

If you have working case cooling chipset fan won't be doing much rounds in Gigabyte and MSI X570 boards. Those have proper design with good size heatsink and fan farther from heat of graphics card.
