trying to locate a pair of taps for a Belfast sink. theres a 4cm worktop over the sink that the taps have to pass through and standard taps come up about an inch short.

does anyone know what to look for?

do you mean the depth of the thread on the tap going through the worktop or the length the tap will reach into the sink? If it the latter then i was in the same boat and just had to give up in the end and settle, you could always go to a specialist kitchen shop and look at what they have on display if there are any open in your area

When we had our kitchen fitted, the taps came with some threaded extensions as our oak worktop was too thick.

thanks for replying. its the threaded part of the tap that connects to the water pipe that comes up about an inch short on standard taps due to the wooden worktop.

Do you want separate taps or a mixer? Mixers are a little easier as generally they are mounted to a plate and you can just get a longer bolt to mount them down

Ah it sounds like you have a basin style tap. How big is the base of the tap?

An option would be to bore the hole slightly larger and attach some flexi hoses to the ends.

Another option is to rout out the bottom of the work top so you can fit the hoses from the bottom and not cut through to the top.

The above link looks fine if you are after that look. Typically kitchen taps are mono block type and you don’t tent to run into these issues on that style.

thanks for all the replies.
ive found some brass 1/2" BSP Pipe Thread Extension on the bay. think that will do the job.
