AMD Wattman resetting settings - Overclocking the Vega 64

I load in my profile I created earlier but every time I change any settings, after I hit apply, it goes back to the original settings.

E.g. State 7 frequency 1647 -> 1630mhz

The vega 64 is crashing to black after an hour or so of gaming

If the driver is crashing you want it to reset to be fair. Just trying to help here, if your saving the profile are you able to select it later on/ after a crash?

Well, for one thing the values you've inputted are way off the mark. So it's not surprising it's crashing.

3 quick tips tho:
1. Don't put the same voltage across P-states, this will bork it.
2. HBM voltage acts as a voltage floor for core too, so it has to be lower than what you want in P6-P7 for core
3. 1100 mhz HBM is very high and not going to happen for you unless you won the silicon lottery. AC Odyssey is a good test for HBM stability I found.

Yep so I replaced my RAM, OCd to 3800 CL18 and now I have been gaming for over 6 hours and temps are not even exceeding 60c I would say it isstable now.

just screenshot some basic bitch stats for me to OC and I will crank up the the HBM slowly

EDIT: just copied their UV 247 Eco settings onto AMDmemoryTweak - now to figure out how to clock my e-die kit perfectly

My vega 64, which was an AIO version now in my custom loop with 2x360 rads, will do 1100 on the HBM, but only if the core clock is knocked down from 1750 to 1700MHz.

Even with an undervolt on the core to something like 1100mV, the card would always crash if the HBM was overclocked, even by as little as 50MHz.

Also as pointed out I dont know if you should set all the Pstate voltages the same, although a lot of people, myself included, set P6 and P7 voltages to the same.

Yea, 1000mV is definitely too low for maintaining that clock speed at P7.

1000mV might be enough voltage for like 1580MHz, but for 1600MHz and above, higher voltage would be required for 100% stability.

What driver version are you on? 20.5.1 had some issues for me on Vega 56 with keeping known good profiles. Rolled back to 20.4.2 no issues.

OCing Vega is a balancing act between target core frequency, voltage, HBM frequency, power, and heat / fan speed. That is why the "lazy mans" guide is so long, its nothing like OCing the cards that came before it.

Vega responds really well to HBM frequency increases, so I would generally favour a higher HBM clock over a core clock. Don't forget that with Vega the core and HBM are right next to eachother so increasing the frequency of one will indirectly cause the other to run hotter as well. That's why with @DazQ87 's example pushing the HBM required dropping core frequency a small amount.

my fps is higher, temps are lower, watts are lower, fan speeds are basically silent, so yep this is a great setting. i don't bench my card but was 64c on furmark after 4h (75c hbm tho) and playing games for 8h it hit 55c at max so I am very happy

Wattman does this for me too (since launch), absolute tripe!!Less fidelity but I tend to stick to AB now, at least I know it won't lose my settings...

I used AB for many years, since ditching it though my wattman problems are exponentially better albeit its not perfect software by any means. My simple config tool is OverdriveNTool, it compliments wattman rather well.
