NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

If these prices are true I’m out they ain’t getting any of my money.

See what Amd come out with if it’s better priced I’ll bite otherwise ps5 it is.

See this is an example of exactly what I was saying. Nvidia are competing this time not just with AMD but with the next gen consoles as well.

Hopefully this will keep them very honest otherwise bye bye sales. And this should continue in to 2021 as well as the consoles are launching late in the year.

Of course if the GPUs launch before the consoles there may be an initial price gouge until the price rebalance happens once the consoles launch and sales drop.

I've got a big list of games to play on steam and since I came at 4k I need a beefy GPU... however if the prices are silly I will just buy a ps5 and a cheap 1080 Ti to do the job. As others have said Nvidia are competing with consoles this time around and I believe AMD will be much more competitive than what they was with Turing ( radeon VII & 5700 series )

Yea, same here mate. If they want £400 for a 3060 they have completely lost the plot.

I think they've already lost the plot with Turing :o, its only going to get worse. At the end of the day, people are willing to pay whatever the cost.

It does depend what else people want to do with their PC that you can’t do with a console or the experience is not as good, e.g. web browsing, streaming, spreadsheets & office stuff, video editing. Granted you don’t need the latest graphics card for all of those.

They will launch before the consoles and AMD for this exact reason I'd stake Jensen's leather polish on it. Later on they then have the option to lower prices if needed or release a new product SKU.

What Nvidia will be scared of is loosing brand image, the performance crown to AMD or even sharing it with them. For that reason I bet there will be some TSMC consumer GPUs or they will have thought of that and have the ability to turn on TSMC manufacturing if only for small volumes. The fact that people are talking about GA102 for a 3080 says it all that will be an interesting GPU if it turns out to be true and it hasn't been gimped in some way.

You kind of answered your question. Lol.

I am happy to just buy a cheap second hand card that will play all my current steam library and then buy a PS5 to play games on my OLED. I only ever play single player games anyways.

It won't be long before you can buy a cheap office PC + a next-gen console for less than the cost of a mid-range/mainstream nVidia GPU :p

e: But really, £400+ for a xx60 GPU is absurd no matter what you use it for.

e2: With the introduction of the 3070 Ti (£600?) you also have to remember than what you're getting if you buy a 3070, is what would have been the 3060 previously :p

So along with a nice price bump you're also getting an bump upwards in the range. Ie the 3060 now becomes the 3070, and the 3070 becomes the 3070 "Ti" :p

Enjoy being squeezed :p

Agreed I'm massively tempted by a PS5, never owned any PS but I have a 50" 1080 Sony Bravia which has great picture quality and I'd love to race or fight with mates when they come around for £450-500 rather than pay £1300 for 15-25% on what I have now. I can already run AAA games with most bells and whistles and decent MSAA 60fps at 4K.

*Some people.

They've lost a sale from me for the 2 series, and likely for the 3 series (like they're bovvered).

Will be looking at second hand, probably, or just carry on and see if sanity returns in a couple of years, though I doubt it.

Pandora's box, regarding pricing has been well and truly opened.

a lot of people say the best combo is a PC and a PS. That way the Xbox games you play on the PC and the PS exclusive you play on the PS.

The only consoles I ever had were a Super Nintendo and a PS2.

I would be tempted with a console too but I don't have the space.

People are panicking with putative prices. If the prices are too prohibitive, just wait until the consoles come out, after which time the prices will plummet.
